Re: GDP increases 5% : SBP’s first Quarterly Report
the headline seems misleading as well, GDP increases 5 %. Has it increased to 5 %, or increased 5 % from the previous years quarter of the corresponding period (2.9 %)
Even though these numbers are coming from the SBP, theres little doubt who engineers these figures, and what pressure tactics are used to force SBP to show the govt in a positive light.
If inflation is to be calculated on a similarly small time scale, then there have been more than a couple of months where the inflation rate has been more than 25% over the last 8 months.
Re: GDP increases 5% : SBP’s first Quarterly Report
Not a big player, but 'dependent' on the west, specially when we have uniformed puppets in power.
Just being 'dependent' on the West does not mean that Pakistan would be effected by economical downturn in the West. You are clinging to ridiculous theories to somehow downplay the economic change brought in Pakistan during Musharraf's time without much help from Pakistan, as most money given to Pakistan was for the services.
Only bigots call their saviors a puppet and a traitor. You should be thankful to Musharraf for doing the right thing by turning against Taliban. Had we continued with your ganja Sharif, we would be living in Talibanized Pakistan already with Ganja badmash as Amirul.
Re: GDP increases 5% : SBP’s first Quarterly Report
so you mean the world can go down the drain while Pakistan can stay course?
So you mean had there been no economic downturn, the corrupt PPP government would have continued on the course setup by Musharraf?
Pakistan is not effected as much by international economics because it is not connected to them as much. But if saying truth about Musharraf hurts too much then you should at least note that even US's own GDP had started getting better from 2010. But Pakistan continued the same way.
Continue clinging to baseless lie kaka put forward to deny Musharraf's economic performance.

I am asking you, not making suggestions as if I hold PPP govt any higher.

Why is Pakistan not effected as much by international downturn? Pakistan is not an 'independent economy'. Pakistan exports 13% of its product to US (largest export partner). So one would think Pakistan's economy would be affected by US. Also, depends on the change in aid.

I am not sure why you are so sensitive about criticism on Mush's govt, probably he was a "Urdu speaker" too?? I do not cling to anyone person's views, ideas. But some people do support some on ethnic lines come what may.

I criticize Musharraf myself for various reasons. So your thinking that it has to do with being "Urdu speaking" just exposes your bias.
It is people like you who criticize him for everything. Everyone has positive and negative points. You can disagree with certain policies of Musharraf. But to say that he never did anything positive for Pakistan, to call him a traitor, to not acknowledge his decisions against terrorism while claiming to be anti-terrorism yourself; well, it just shows your true thinking.
If you support kakaballi's idea that the downturn in Pak economy after Musharraf was mostly due to downturn in international economy (cf: "pretty much") then:
- You are at least acknowledging that economy was good during Musharraf's time. Something which many don't even acknowledge.
- PPP government was not responsible for that pathetic performance of the economy, and economic conditions would have continued to follow the course set earlier during Musharraf's time.
But if international economy was the precipice, and if Pak economy is so much dependent on international economy as you claim, then why did it not improve the same way as during Musharraf when the world started catching up in growth after 2010?
Re: GDP increases 5% : SBP’s first Quarterly Report
My bias? What bias? against Urdu speaking?
Looks like you know too much about me, or at least you think you know people like me very well and pass a certificate/judgement. Well, you failed, try again.
I do acknowledge that during Mush time telecom and media explosion took place, and of course these were big sectors and impacted GDP very positively.
Are you Taliban of finance or opinions? Why do you need to jump to an extreme in disagreements?
