I like those too.

As for the topic, some have potential to do well. Mortal Kombat movies were decent. Final Fantasy Advent Children was awesome. Spirits Within was OK IMO, but is not much liked within the gaming community.

Some really bad ones that I’ve seen were Street Fighter and Mario brothers.

I’ve never seen any of the Resident Evils, but I did see the first 8 minutes of Degeneration, which was pretty good.

I'd say the reason they tend to be crappy is that a lot of times the people making the movies don't achieve the proper balance of being faithful to the original source material while making it accessible to a new audience. This is basically the complaint I've had about movies based on games, comics and cartoons. The most recent example of this being the 2007 Transformers movie. I didn't care about any of the human characters. They spent too much time developing the human characters, whom I didn't care about for the most part anyway, and far too little time on the Transformers.

The** Tekken game series is also coming out with a movie in 2009. Right now they are rounding up all of the characters, and **Jet Li is going to be Lei, and** Lateef Crowder** (awesome stuntman) is going to be Eddy Gordo.
