Hello...
Can anyone explain to me the significance behind the ritual of tying the gaana on the bride & groom's wrists?? Is it to ward off evil eye? Also, in Pakistani traditions, I have only seen this done at the mehndi where the bhabhis (sisters-in-law) or someone who is like one, from both sides perform this ritual. Is this how it's supposed to be done, at least in Pakistani mehndis??

i wore a silver (chandi ka gana).
you can find gold plated ones too…i think the silver looks more traditional…with red dori and all

i think she means kaleris? scratches head but thats indian rasm no? ive not really seen pakistani brides wear them :S

yeah the kaleris are the punjabi indian version of "gana"

I don't think people in Pakistan wear kaleris for any religious reason. Some brides like the look of them s they wear them.
