Re: French senate approves burqa ban
And to everyone saying it infringes on their right: by your reasoning banning alcohol infringes on the rights of Pakistanis.
That's ridiculous. Alcohol and burqa are in totally different leagues. Alcohol can be very dangerous when abused, it can cause an addiction to the point where it destroys your life, it can cause fetal alcohol syndrome to the baby if the mother drinks excessively during pregnancy, it impairs your judgment when you're drunk, even if you're not addicted, hence why you're not permitted to drink while in a professional setting or trying to make a good impression, you can cause serious injury to yourself and others if you drink and drive, so on and so on, not to mention puking, pissing on yourself, having sex with someone you otherwise wouldn't if you're under the influence.
Now, does wearing the Burqa make one do any of these things? How is burqa dangerous to oneself or to others, I mean seriously? The only instance I can think of it being a problem is at a job that requires a specific dress code, especially a manual labor job. Nothing wrong with a woman donning a burqa to go to the mall or taking her kids to school. I know a couple of young women who say they can't live without the burqa, they are well educated women, who do not behave submissively or oppressed in any way whatsoever. There is nothing "backwards" about how they live their live.
Funny that you brought up banning alcohol though, you know the french would totally be up in arms if banning alcohol was the case. LOL. And talking about backwards practices , alcohol predates the burqa.
