The first question was "is there an example of what a successful model of modern-day political Islamic system (Khilafaat) is?" The answer is "no".
Ok, fine.. lets move on.
Now, instead of spending so much of your energy pointing out bad points about other systems, which you do every now and then using random news items, and instead of pointing people to long cut and pastes or to your web links, and instead of taunting people to come up with their own arguments to counter yours... why don't you start a thread, and in your own words, clearly and simply try to explain what the "modern day" "ideal muslim rule" will entail.
Lets start from the basics, as to
1. How will the government be elected/selected/appointed?
1. How will khaleefa be selected?
1. What will be the financial system?
1. What will be the judicial system?
*] What kind of freedom of opinion and freedom of choice will be provided to the residents? etc
Lets talk about your aims in a positive manner, instead of just focussing on the negatives. May be we can get somewhere. :-)
however world events are not showing anyone who is any sort of role model as a khalifah.
People want islam, but the definition of what they want differs, there is no consensus..but lets not go off on a tangent here :)

People want islam yes and they want shariah law and that can only happen within an islamic state and time and time again people have shown this is what they want the only ones against this are the secular extremists!
faisal your point is bit silly if there was an islamic state then there would be no need to call for an islamic state!
It is like if you already have water you would not be asking for water when you already have it!
ak47.. Did you even bother to read what I wrote above, or were you just too convinced that you had to write the word "silly" somewhere in your post? I have asked simple questions, and if you can answer them clearly and in your own words, without referring to a lot of historical text or long cut-and-pastes, we can actually start a discussion. Otherwise just say you have no idea and we will then ignore all this and you can go ahead on your merry way condemning the rest of the world without offering practical alternatives. So the ball is in your court. Feel free to answer clearly, or post some more irrelevant yip yap.

Let people first agree on shariah :)
as far as yopur statement of islamic law only happen within an islamic state..you may want to pass that message to the umpteen different religious political parties in pakistan. Ever read how many of these parties and further how many splinter groups we have of those?
People have repeatedly rejected these guys because they know that the model of shariahj thatthese guys want to impose only goes as far as forbidding thand forbidding that, easily implementable, high visibility crap but no solid solutions for long term improvement in any arena.
want proof? ask some questions at a Ji/JUI type rally and see them beat around the bush.
when the various sects and schools fo thought have figured out what islamic shariah is, let us know, otherwise there will always be disgruntled ppl within the islamic state.

I don't know what part of muslim land you are in but it must be somewhere remote and away from the feelings of muslims.
You just need to talk to joe public and they want shariah 100% yes they may not know the exact details of a govenment model but they will back islam everytime this is a reality even youngsters know.
You will have the secular extremists in pakistan jumping on the islamic bandwagon such as nawaz the thief, benazhir bhutto and even musharaff they cloth themselves in islamic clothing at election time or if they are in a difficult situation and once in power we know what happens.

Do they want an islamic system, sure, do they want the system that ppl like MMA are saying...not quiet so sure about it. the increasing momentum of opposition in Iran indicates what the people there feel now. The fact that umpteen diff islamic political parties had to unite in Pakistan to get power in backwater areas is another thing.

right, so lets figure out shariah before enforcing it on people. People do want an islamic system, however I would suggest that they would take anything than the monarchies they are dealing with right now. Anyhow, they may or may nto agree with the definition and approach of the self declared guradians of the faith.
