Re: Foreign investment poised to reach $7.5 billion for this year
If it was upto them, Aziz and his "group" would sell every inch of this country. Soon we could find out that all national landmarks are held by a bank because some investor has a share in it.
Steel Mill fiasco is the best example.
Sold the mills for a fraction of what merely its land was worth. Why? Becuase the same group laid foundation of a new mill within the PQ area. If you can't beat the competition, then buy the competition at dirt prices. Basic business strategy.
This mastermind PM called Aziz is on a one-track agenda. That is to sell each National asset to his favorite asset.

What are these bonds? And how does this thing work?
Re: Foreign investment poised to reach $7.5 billion for this year
Good to see the recent incidents have not affected foreign investment?
Re: Foreign investment poised to reach $7.5 billion for this year
Karachi Stock Exchange is relevant only for 17 stock brokers and about 500,000 retail clients, and open to manipulation. So I dont take it as a credible indicator of economic success or failure.
The bond issue, again, it might have been over subscribed but so was Mangolia's bond issue, and we didnt even get the best interest rate either. There is huge liquidity in international markets. I'll be back with stats.

Qatar to invest $2b in Pakistan
Qatar and Pakistan have signed several memoranda of understanding (MoUs) in various economic sectors including power and energy, tourism, hospitality and infrastructure, Khaleej Times reported. Qatar has identified five major areas to make new investments that also include an industrial zone and an important power project in Pakistan. The Gulf state has proposed to set up a $500 million power project at Checho-ki-malian, near Sheikupura, Punjab. Similarly, a livestock farm on five thousand of acres has been planned to be established by Qatar at a cost of around $100 million. According to a Pakistani official, Qatar has also expressed interest in making $1 billion investment at Lahore-Sialkot industrial zone. Also, Qatar government, he said, was negotiating with National Logistics Cell (NLC) to enter into a joint venture with it for constructing a multi-stored building in Islamabad for offices and other business activities. The project, he said, would cost about $100 million. Responding to a question, he said that all the mentioned projects by Qatar will be set up during the next two to three year period. The power project, he said, could be set up within this year as certain homework has already done by the Qatar government.
