What would you want to teach your daughter? Given the responses here, it seems like people have no shortage of what they'd like to teach their sons (mostly along the manner of respecting women), but the responses in the DIL thread were mostly light hearted.
Did you not the read for your daughter thread ? Responses were pretty serious.
You suffer from selective reading and comprehending, too.
And y does it matter if responses for the for your dil thread were humorous?
if and when i have one, i would try to raise him in the same manner my parents have raised my brothers i.e. to give them the clear understanding that being boys do not make them superior to girls.
i would also teach him:
do not take any relation for granted specially your parents/grandparents/siblings/friends/wife/kids
do not misuse the freedom given by the family
make friends with girls but never ever misuse them and never play with any girls feelings.
respect, love, protect your sisters and your female friends
Bring your sisters little gifts every now and then.
when you have wife, surprise her with gifts on regular days as well
be self sufficient and always earn with from halal sources
never compromise your deen and eman for money making.
you are a man and as such provided with the obligation to fully finance your wife and future kids, so do it with love and compassion and do not make it like you are doing any ehsaan on them.
provide all kind of domestic help to your wife if you can, even if she doesn't work outside.
Take care of your parents and grand parents with love and respect and if later in a life any of them is unable to support themselves financially then support them with all your heart and do not treat them as a burden.
Even if you make less money or if a situation comes where you can't make any money, you are still loved still important for your family.
If ever life gets bad and troublesome for your sister/sisters then be there for them at all levels.
Treat your daughters as princesses and do not restrain them from doing any particular activity on the basis of gender only.
