I rather agree with the article.

• If you can’t afford your spouse, why get married. Forget that they’ll both be a burden on the gov’t; its just not responsible on a personal level.

• First generation immigrant wives don’t hinder integration, rather nurture it. Don’t you think? Think about all our FOB family who tries so hard to assimilate. 2nd /3rd generations are more lax about this stuff.

**I find it a little offensive that the article is pretty much singling out South Asia particularly Paksitanis.
****What about the Irish? Or is that not a problem because Irish folks are great for the pub business.

I think its because most people who come on spouse visas come from south asia with majority from pakistan.Mirpuris arrange marriages with relatives left back in mirpur.Ireland is part of EU so these rules dont apply to them.
