They don’t taste or make me feel like algae or fungus at least. Blue cheese tasted rotten. I still feel the “hawaarrh” of it in my mouth whenever I think of it now

This isn’t exactly groceries but…macarons. I tried them at this posh local cafe on the recommendation of a friend and found them to be so-so. They were good but nothing amazing. Given all the praise and the loads of pictures and recipes for macarons on pinterest, I expected them to be nothing short of amazing.
They’re quite pretty but taste-wise…ordinary biscuits, nothing more.

Y’know what? I have often felt that the desserts that have been manipulated a lot by the hands to where a lot of energy is put into making them look outwardly spectacular are prolly lacking when it comes to taste. That’s what I think of the cakes on TV programs where they make various cake creations. I tried those fancy, colorful French macaroons. They’re pretty with the sparkly shimmer on top and vibrant colors…but tastewise…meh. I prefer the regular looking macaroons instead.

LOL…YUP, so you had the same posh macaroons then. They’re so overpriced and lacking in taste. It’s just sugar, you don’t get the richness of flavors you’d find in regular or even homemade macaroons. It’s the fancy decoration we’re paying for, not taste. And I wonder if it’s a psychological thing for those who think they’re very delicious…like the subconscious thought that it looks pretty and I can afford it and therefore it is delicious as well lol.

^No, I don’t make them. But I find the taste of simple macaroons better than the fancy ones.

I feel the same way for store brought cupcakes: a visual pleasure at first sight but an insult to one’s taste buds later.

I love coconut water and it is so healthy. Yesterday, I tried sweet potato chips. Except for the look they were good. Now I need to try beet root chips too.

I know this was directed to RV, but I wanted to mention that making macarons from scratch is not terribly difficult. I make them from scratch and I don’t find it difficult per say. It’s just a bit time consuming as the quantities of the ingredients must be exact (or near exact), you must be cautious not to overmix and keep a watchful on them while they bake but once you have made them a few times, you have the process down. After having the process down, it’s quite easy as the process is the same every time (the only part which changes is the flavouring you decide to use).
