So where were we, oh yes, we were discussing Mirpuris. The Brummy Mirpuri population is not 99%, it’s actually closer to 70% (community profiles, 1999 … mind you at the rate you guys reproduce I wouldn’t be surprised if you were right ). I must have worked with 30 odd Pakistani families in the last year, and the law of averages would suggest that atleast 9 of those families were non Mirpuri, right? Wrong.

Nope, there is no chance in hell that it is under 90%. And I’m talking about % of Pakis in brum being Mirpuri. My Grandad’s a councillor so I would know about this crap.

And the in-breeding part - can’t disagree with that. It happens a lot. I myself am the product of a first cousin marriage. I turned out relatively (no pun intended) normal. Okay bad example.

But seriously I can think of about 20 first-cousin marriages in my family off the top of my head (yes like typical Mirpuris we have a huge family and we’re all in Brum). Probably about 50 kids born out of these marriages and not one has any form of disability or disease. The only disabled child in the whole family I can think of is from my uncle who married an ex-Sikh girl. Work that one out.

Personally, I don’t see anything wrong with it. I’m not a big fan of it either but it doesn’t bother me. And I bet you’re elders from back home don’t. Its just some crap you’ve picked up from the West.
