Re: First Test @Karachi..... Pakistan Vs Srilanka
I totally agree with fkhan2. Are we out of our minds that we want Akmal to play as a specialist batsman? He's the type of player who performes once in a blue moon...like Afridi. Pakistan's problem is consistancy..and we need to find consistent batsmen and bowlers...we have a very consistent keeper...he's consistently horrible...and has been over the last 2 years. He hasnt dropped a catch yet...but im sure he will in the next game or next SL innings if they end up having to bat.
Akmal will be easy prey for Mendis and Murli...the guy has no clue how to play against spinners.
Goldenasif jee...I think Butt should be kicked out...he's totally overrated. If you take out India as his opposition in both Tests and ODI's...his average is PATHETIC. I dont know why a lot of people on this board always praise him.
And Faisal Iqbal...I really hate to see him in the team...but I think the only logic behind his inclusion must be that Faisal is supposedly a really good player of spin bowling...so lets see if he lives up to that reputation.
there were quite a few record broke yesterday
Without even looking at his batting record I can tell you that Akmal is not good enough to be included in the team as a specialist batsman.
Ok lets just forget for a minute that Kaman Akmal has been our wicket keeper for all these years and lets reevaluate his performance purely as a batsman. Do you think he has performed consistently to even deserve a spot in top 16 squad or a Pakistan "A" team?
As the biggest sporting organization of our country, PCB should be ashamed of the fact that they have failed to keep an incompetent player like Kamran Akmal away from the national team.
While he may not have batted well recently, but Akmal is our SECOND-BEST batsman in the current line-up (after Younis Khan). He does have the ability to play all kind of shots in all conditions. He has scored centuries both home and abroad. His technique is better than Shoaib Malik's, even though it could be argued Malik is grittier.
I've been a big proponent of dropping Akmal in favor of Sarfraz Ahmed, but he didn't have a very good outing either when given the chance recently in Abu Dhabi.

**Few notes from cricinfo
Dylan: "Concerning Mendis' decline, I think it would be unreasonable to expect him to continue at his first year's rate; that would be expecting him to be one of the greatest bowlers ever. He will likely continue to do better against countries that don't play spin as well or that don't see him much. And he'll probably always be pretty good to wreck the tail-still a useful bowler."
It brings to an end an exciting first session. Not many runs scored but an excellent contest between these two batsmen and Sri Lanka's spinners. There were some close calls - a dropped catch off Shoaib Malik and a close lbw shout against Younis - but Pakistan will feel they have done well. The loss of Khurram Manzoor was certainly a setback but Younis has looked solid and is on his way to a well-deserved fifty. Do join us in about 30 minutes for the post-lunch action.

Re: First Test @Karachi..... Pakistan Vs Srilanka
Pakistan have done well in the first hour of the second session here. The pair have managed to preserve their wickets, and have also latched on to any poor ball on offer.

Pakistan's session, most certainly. They haven't lost a wicket and Younis, along with Malik has batted doggedly to take their team to a position where it appears they look good to avoid the follow on. Younis, incidentally, continues the trend in this decade of captains leading by example when it comes to batting.

Re: First Test @Karachi… Pakistan Vs Srilanka
Great innings by Younas Khan! Like he said when he was appointed captain…he wants to lead from the front and thats exactly what he’s doing! ![]()
But…sadly when the opposition has scored 644…the job is not done yet…not even close to being done yet…Younas needs to score a big hundred and Malik or Misbah have to play big innings as well. I have absoultely no hope from Iqbal and Akmal.
