There used to be some sort of makhlooqs living on earth even before the creation of Hazrath Adam (as). Some writers of tafseer say that they were JINS. Some say there were many other makhlooqs too.
I think you can link those skeletons and other stuff found to the other makhlooqs, born before hazrath Adam (as).
Chances of me being wrong here are very high. I'd like to be corrected if any other brother/sister have better explainations.
Yes, Muslims believe in Adam and Eve and believe theat they were first humans and Adam was first ever prophet. It has been outlined well in the holy book of Muslims called Koran. The stories of prophets as described in koran is not much different from what is stated in Bible. Actually many christians claim that all the stories of prophets in koran are adapted from Bible.
Blackzero:
Even if Adam and Eve had two sets of kids at separate times, it still makes them brothers and sisters regardless.

Brother Pagluu,
One could ask if before the creation of this world and present race of humanity there had been another world and another human race; or, if after the life of this world and its inhabitants terminates, as the Holy Quran declares that it will, another world and humanity will be created. The direct response to these questions cannot be found in the Holy Quran. There, one can only discover allusions to the continuity and succession of creation.
But in the traditions (rewayat) of the Imams of the Household of the Prophet transmitted to us it is asserted that creation is not limited to this visible world. Many worlds have existed in the past and will exist in the future.
The sixth Imam has said, "Perhaps you think God has not created humanity other than you. No! I swear to God that He has created thousands upon thousands of mankinds and you are the last among them."
The fifth Imam, Imam Mohammed Baqir (as), has said, "God, the Exalted, since creating the world has created seven kinds none of whom were of the race of Adam.
He created them from the surface of the earth and set each being one after another with its kind upon the earth. Then He created Adam, the father of mankind, and brought his children into being from him."
And also the sixth Imam has said, "Do not think that after passing away of the affair of this world and the Day of Judgment and the placing of the virtuous in heaven and the evil in hell there will no longer be anyone to worship God. No, never! Rather, again God will create servants without the marriage of the male and the female to know His Oneness and to worship Him."

What you say does make sense in fact. And it does explain all those skeleton findings of our Homo sapiens ancestor(religion point of view).
the question is, he was a prophet. which nation he was sent to?
he was not the first man but first of those who developed human-ness and developed the ability to understand the revelation from God Almighty.
Adam lived on this earth aprox 6000 years ago. while carbon dating technique which is 98% accurate estimated skeletons found in excavation as old as 11 million years old...
there are many logical answers for adam not being the first man on earth, yet there is not a single reference that he was first.

Since He was first of human kind, he was to 'develop' a nation/human-race so he had to provide them the knowledge / teachings of the religion. Basically, he was prophet for the nation which was to come into existence.

MULLAH_DOPIAZZA!
From your question it seems quiet clear that you are not a muslim otherwise you wouldn't have asked the kind of question at the first place. Before saying some thing to anyone you should look inside yourself (which is called been honest to your ownself) and then say things to others.
Your name gives a view about you which is easily spotted. You seem to have a very nerrow mindness in any forum you are talked in.
Please if you don't know about the topic then ask and look before you leap.

With the continous interbreeding of the British heirs to the crown, they now apparently have serious problems due to past inbreeding and that might be the reason they lately look more favourable on marrying "non-nobility".**

You are missing the main point thought. You are Brother and sister until you change the relationship which will be marriage. Come on you need to use your brain.
Okay to make is easier for you, can you tell us what religion you believe in and then we will try and make it easier for you to see the sense of this.
The religion from one to the other (under the condition of been given a BOOK from God/Allah) the rules changed so that you and me as human can live with them. When Adam and Eve were the only beings in the planet then needed childern so that you can be born. So it is LEGAL THEN but as the generation started then it became UNLAWFULL to marry or sleep with your blood SISTER.
Now from your point of view (IF true) then are you planning to marry your own sister. This question is not Direct to anyone but I would like you to use the concept and put yourself in the position and then answer me.

Bharysh, Adam and Eve had kids, sons and daughters. And their kids got married among themselves. As a matter of fact, one brother killed the other over the right to marry their sister. **
