Seems like you know quite a lot about Persian culture and I’m fascinated by Turkish culture. How similar and different would you say both cultures and people are, as I find them quite similar? I know there’s an earth and sky difference between the two countries.

Well both are very complex and diverse cultures split by great distances and timescale… though ethnographically it’s possible to make one generalisation that the Persians had the richer liturgical and social structure, while the Turks had a good understanding of culture despite at first being much more primitive.

I think Iranian culture is closer to Indian and Pakistani culture than Turkish but may be someone knowledgeable about History like Faris bhai can shed more light on this.

Yes to an extent Hareem01 is right. I would not neccasarily say Persian culture was any better or worse than other cultures but it was very rich and could flourish and influence those around it much more so than other cultures.

The Turkish culture has certainly been subject to much changes throughout the ages, having come from very primitive origins the Turkic people have had to cope with a lot of change, even today they struggle with several languages and no true language represents them entirely. Persians have on the other hand not only influenced others including the Turks but since the last Millenium Persian Culture has been very much stable the litrature and art, social structure has been predominantly the same throughout that time. Offcourse both cultures saw thier changes but Persians have held out better than the Turks who are still in a bit of an Identity crisis.

As for simmilarities to our own Desi Culture both Persian and Turkic cultures have been responsible directly from the language we speak (Persian influenced) to the systems in society and institutions which in many Islamic cultures have been influenced largely by Turkic origins.

As for my own favourite culture I find it very hard to say and pick out one culture. Generally I admire all cultures who live on the edge in particularl Nomadic cultures. Partly because I am decended from Steppe Nomads and partly becuase Nomadic people be they Desert Dwellers, Plains herders or even Mountain hunter gatherers all of them are very tough and capable cultures that have survived well and I would love to see them continue long into the future… the beauty is enthralling when you see how they are not masters of thier realms but caretakers.
