the man gets 10 years .. good.. but what do the monkeys at Dar ul Uloom whatever get? why do they get off free.. on to the next woman to declare her nikah illegal? I think an example should be made out of the mullahs at that madrassah so they keep it in their pants next time something like this comes along and let the law handle it.

Also, has any one ever looked in to the psychology of the rapist?
Once I listened to a lecture by Aminah Asslimi regarding women and rape.
She referred a lot to what psychiatrists say about this and what is the attackers motive in many cases.
The net was that the assailant in most cases is not doing this becuase of lust..rather they are in a fit of rage. They are trying to prove control and dehumanize the victim. To show that the victim does not deserve respect.
Keeping in mind our desi cultures and specially the ones in INDIA (of which I only know from friends...) this must be a combination of the above and may be lust as well. As I know in our cultures the girls really thinks of the Father-in-law as a father and does not maintain purdah like she would with other outsiders.
ANY HOW , PPL LIKE THIS SHOULD BE MADE A PUBLIC EXAMPLE SO THAT OTHERS KNOW WHAT THEY WILL GET IF THEY DO IT.. I AM ALSO A PRENT OF THREE GIRLS... SO I SERIOUSLY FEAR FOR THEM...

Should mullahs have a free hand in cases like this? Are they also responsible for this woman's humiliation and suffering on a lesser level if not the same as her father in law? What should be proper kick on their ignorant and holier than thou buttt?

every religion have both good and bad people, nothing is exceptional, but villagers supporting father is bad
But in Hinduism Daughter in law is equal to daughter,
but i have seen many case where a daughter in law has been burnt for dowry
