How difficult is it to walk in a farshi gharara compared to a regular gharrara?

Re: Farshi gharara
its not that different. its like walking in a balldown. remember, farshi's these days are not made from the traditional 14 yards of fabric- they're usually 8 or 12 and that just means it has a lot of gheyr and a bit of a train. it doesn't have to be made out of jamavar either- go with a chiffon farshi- it'll be lighter. its only going to be super heavy if its full of kaam and the material is heavy and bulky.
hi guys, new here and ofcourse i have a question: would a farshi gharara (that is not full of kaam, something simple) be too much for a mayoun?
it might look OTT if you are having a small mayyoun, but then again, if it makes you happy then you should go for it!
Re: Farshi gharara
hi guys..
do u have any pictures of a farshi gharara with a long shirt on top? as in mid-calf?
can u carry this dress if ur short..
whats about long kameez lehnga's?

another Q. Can u get this done without goign to a a big designer.. just d regular wedding shops in pak.
thankx!

Re: Farshi gharara
well mum thinks the same as SGC, so i think i will not be doing farshi for the mayoun. But i definitely want to do a gharara for the mehndi.
does anyone know approximately how much it costs in karachi to get a gharara made- a simple one for a mehndi. I will be asking someone to get it made there since i dont live in pakistan. and is there a price difference in getting a farshi versus a non farshi made?
Re: Farshi gharara
does anyone know how much fabric to get for the gharara top and bottom separately?
most have this different colour fabric, applique i guess, below the gote, how much do you get for that?
any idea how to get one stitched? any authentic tailors in lahore/ karachi who can stitch it for you?
Re: Farshi gharara
^ go to shaheena aunty at barkha for your gharara. she has a good tailor but fyi she doesn't discount her prices at all.
you can ask her to confirm the amount of fabric needed or ask the guy where you will buy the cloth- they're pretty knowledgeable and will be able to guide you.
farshis will probably cost you at least 10-16,000 rupees for stitching alone cos the gharara is complicated to make esp. with so much fabric. confirm the price with shaheena aunty though.
btw, she's not my aunt but i guess people call her that lol

Re: Farshi gharara
i didn't wear a farshi gharara but it was a farshi Lengha for my Barat :)
Re: Farshi gharara
okay from my understanding, the band part from which the cloth 'spills out' should definitely be higher, like between the knee and ankle? arent the ones in the aboce pictures with the band part too low?
Re: Farshi gharara
a regular gharara has the gote at the knee and requires 6 yards of fabric typically, if i remember correctly.
a farshi gharara has the gote at midcalf and requires 8-14 yards of fabric. its called a "farshi" because its supposed to sweep along the "farsh" as you walk.
i don't believe either gharara should be worn with a short shirt- its just not designed that way and it can end up looking odd. the kameez should be a few inches higher than the gote at most. on a regular gharara, i'd keep it 2" higher, on a farshi, it could be 5-6" higher or one handspan's width.
Who is d designer of dis outfit?
Re: Farshi gharara
^No definite idea, whitesea.
