i am Pakistan_ka_team, when will the drafts start? it says "• Your league will not be permitted to conduct its draft if it contains an odd number of managers." our league has odd number. we need even number of teams

A LITTLE FRIENDLY DRAFT ADVISE:
For those new to this format, you should rank about the top 200 to 250 spots. The way it works is that the Yahoo computer will randomly assign each team with a number from 1 to 10 and that will be your draft order. Team1 gets first choice, so obviously T1 will get the player it ranked as #1 (For example, let's say Priest Holmes). Team 2 is second. If T2 also listed Holmes as its number 1 player, T2 will get the guy it ranked as #2 for its first round selection since Holmes already went to T1. In every round, provided there are still eligible spots left on your roster, you will get the highest ranked player on your list that has not already been taken by another team.
Under this format, you are guaranteed to get 1 player who you ranked in your top 10 during the first round. Likewise, you are guaranteed to get one of the players you ranked from 11 to 20 in the second round.
Apparently, your active roster every week is a QB, 2 RBs, 3 WRs, 1 TE, 1 K, 1 DEFENSE TEAM, 1 Def lineman and 1 DEF back. You also get 6 bench spots. If you rank a whole bunch of QBs high, you might end up getting QBs with both your first and second round selections. For purposes of the draft, 1 QB would be put in the QB slot and 1 QB would be placed on the bench. The computer will make sure that all slots are filled apprpriately. Thus, eventually, you will have all 6 bench/OPEN slots filled and your QB position filled. Even if a QB is your next highest rated player, the computer will skip over that player and look for the highest ranked player at a position that you need to have filled.
Because you don't have live draft control of picking the best player available for each active position before filling bench slots, you may find yourself overloaded with talent on your bench at a particular position that you cannot use on game day. Let's say you end up with 3 great QBs but don't have 3 good WRs to play each week. TRADE TIME. You get to trade a QB to some poor schmoe who got too many WRs but didn't get a good QB. The point is, don't get too discouraged about who you end up with immediately after the draft. Active participation in the trade market throughout the season makes for a really fun league.

mv, do note that there is a deadline for trade ie Nov 19th. We wouldn't want the trade deadline any further because then if a team doesnt make it to the playoffs, the team manager might trade all of his/her good players to other teams of his/her choice.

Good idea on the trade deadline. That still gives us almost 3 months of trading from draft day to trade cutoff. 12 glorious weeks for us intellectual arm chair GM's to move prima donna steroid abusing jerks around like chattel.

mv, yeah 3 months should be enough for us to get our dream team through trading. Though i think it is highly unlikely that any of us would end up with, for example, 3 stellar Qbs. Mainly because of the league size and also how yahoo picks the players, as after yahoo has picked one QB it will pick a a player for a different position.

well out of the ppl that i sent pms to, only elahi replied. I have sent him the invitational email. I have also reminded UTD of sending me his email addy. Right now, we r 9, still looking for one more person.
I will "turn on" the draft on SUnday AUg 22, giving enough time to everyone to rank their players.
