how is the situation in Tirah Valley now? I have heard thousands are displaced and in dire need of relief aid.
Still dire, the taleban don't want any kind of relief to be provided to the hapless refugees.

savages!!! it amazes me that despite aerial assault by Pakistan army, they have not been successful in driving them out of valley. my heart goes to the victims, close to 40,000 have been displaced and many dead! - sadly this tragedy is unnoticed by many Pakistanis, media is not giving enough coverage to this grave issue!

The media is sold or not allowed to cover freely by the military. The journalists in that region have to be really careful not to offend the military or the militants. Besides it seems as if the war in fata does not sell. The people will not rally behind the cause as most do not know, do you blame them when the media is not covering the conflict?

I am also surprised that media is not covering the issue..may be they are under pressure from military...some thing went wrong in tirah, many soldiers and SSG commandos got killed in the initial assault, after that army is not leaking actual number of casaulties as it would demoralize troops...now air force is being heavily used on tirah before advancing, sadly there are civilian casaulties as all of them have not evacuated the valley...Either there was miscalculation from military or militants are more tough than expected...casaulties of pak army are high...Also i dont know why mangal bagh turned against army, he was counted among "good" talibans and army let him have full control over bara khyber agency....pashtuns have negative views about army due to this double standards..war on terror should be against taliban mindset, there is no such thing as good or bad talibans...in my own area branch of haqqani network of North waziristan is installed. And with cooperation of secret agencies they recruit people and send them to afghanistan through north waziristan...
