What is failure…
Is it a bad thing…a comment on the persons capacities…or lack of it…
Or is it a good thing…i.e ones effort to push and exceed limits…
nova,

,
i was watching jerry macguire last night & you reminded me of the old guy who was a sports agent mentor in the movie. By the end of the movie, the old dude said something like, “In life, i’ve had just as many failures as i’ve had successes. It’s just a matter on rolling with the success that keeps one going”
i think that’s how the line went…anyways,hm, then again, it’s just a movie…
if i fail in something, i laugh, yeah, i might cry is it’s a reallly really BIG thing but not usually. i usually laugh about it – so that it at least affects me lightly…
It’s a good thing.
I would personally prefer to fail than not giving it a try. Failure and Success are very subjective, and a failure may be success to some and vice-e-versa. Failure teaches more lessons than success. Those who Fail should not be looked down upon, but praised for trying.
Nova Yar, as usual, this is deep.
Either there is success or failure... we win or lose. We will never succeed if there's no failure.
Failure doesn't mean that you're not capable of doing something, it might just need extra effort to be successful. Failure is a good think, once you fail you work harder to reach your goal.
aah…failure..
I do not recall that word…i’ve never encountered it

yea right!
http://www3.pak.org/gupshup/smile.gif
sure nana jaan, it is a good thing when the encounter is moderate…necessary in a way, reminds us of how human we are. and like u said makes one push and want to exceed their limits.
being succesful at everything doesn’t come natural to many to begin with (I, being an exception of course
http://www3.pak.org/gupshup/biggrin.gif
) and it’s not good either…creates vanity and arrogance. like they say, too much of anything is bad.
likewise..failure isn’t good when it’s frequent. constant set backs, try after try after try after try…in vain
that’s not healthy nana jaan. we may be mere mortals, but when ur thrown in the face one failure after another, it makes you bitter. sure, they tell you…something’s better than nothing, you better try and fail than not try at all. but tell me…why waste time and effort when you know failure is going to come give you a big fat punch in the face anyway. success is a plus, not trying neutral…and failure a minus…one is better off remaining neutral than going in the negative direction for the rest of their cursed lives…
failure is the tution of life...u have to pay it to learn, and you have to learn to succeed. Failures are not the only way to learn but among the various ways.
Failures are of 2 types in my view...one is that you try, not knowing if you will succeed or not and fail trying..thats commendable, or you could do something but lazed about and never gave it the commitment it deserved..and thats the bad failure.
To err is human but to err so much that the eraser runs out before the pencil...now thats a warning sign.
most definitly, it’s a good thing…well, ofcourse not in excess
http://www3.pak.org/gupshup/biggrin.gif
without failures, one would never know where he went wrong, and wouldn’t know what to do if a similar sitaution came up some other time…
To be human is to be challenged, to be more divine. Not even to try to meet such a challenge is the biggest deafeat imaginable.
and as Matrin Luther King Jr. said: We must accept finite disappointment, but we must never lose infinite hope.
Good indeed…
So adding to Mr. Fraudia’s view … Failure gives you something very rare and precious!
Humility… and patience as well.
And what is failure??
It is not getting to lose weight when you so damn want to!!!

Nice replies
Failure defined by BoSS is an individual's perception of an effort he/she makes. (sometimes the perception is influenced by other relavent/irrelavent factors). Majority of the times the outcome of an effort isn't a desired one.
Is it good? No, its not.
Is the lesson learnt from it is beneficial? Yes, it could be...yet another brick in the wall of experience.
ciao,
BoSS
It sure doesn't taste good but neither does Buckley's.
They both do the job though.
Different folks have different ways of dealing with failures. Speaking for myself, failure is a great teacher. It gives me the opportunity to figure out where, what went wrong. It gives me the opportunity to grow,
a chance to roll with the punches, a chance to succeed, to rise above the factor which is challenging me. Failures are actually a test in themselves. The real struggle is not struggling with failure itself, but taking advantage of the situation and trying to benefit from it.

What is failure…
To me it’d be best catagorized as…Giving up on something!

Depends on how one looks at it. I personally think, the impact of the ramification is based on the resistence one has against the bitterness of it.And it varies from person to person, that how’d they react to it. It has its advantages too, like learning the lessons it teaches one. For we all learn from our former mistakes.Thats how we master the skills of life.It helps us know what the phrase “fittest survives” means.
Failure can serves as a “wake up call.” It can be a good thing, to keep ppl balanced, and provide them the possibilty to view both sides of the picture. Besides, if Failure wasn’t part of our realities… we wud’ve been irrogant as well as ignorant. It accumulates the art of patience in us. Plus teaches us self disciplin, if only we desire to rectify our performances and are looking fwd towards better results.
a comment on the persons capacities…or lack of it…
I think it works both ways… balance is the key to go here. Too much of something, and too little of nothing is never a good combination.

did that made any sense btw?

It can be good and bad. Facing failure constantly may demean the spirit within, and it can be discouraging.
And in answer to ur question about the limits and out doing it. Hmm… well as long as the one pursuing success doesn’t exceeds in anything which is threatening someone’s well being, and it is within legal limits. I think there is no harm to try ur utmost effort and end up being the king of the world. Just makes the whole process of accomplishing so so So admirable while one is in pursuit of the overall quest with such great zeal! For it gives us a reason to live, and want to live more. To see more, and experience more. To learn more and to soar more. To explore and to gain more.
what Don’t lookit me like that ppl, I do not accept failures, unless I satisfy myself by picking it up by its ears and turning them in successful, blissful moments by the Almighty’s Grace. And if someone wants to overcome failure, Optimism, determination, and persistency are the key words ur looking at.

Oh and don’t forget to develop an open mind, while actually expecting things to work out to ur satisfaction. For thats what helps us keep on going and going and going, until its all over!
http://www3.pak.org/gupshup/smile.gif
And we all have yet, LOOOOOOONG wayz to go till we reach to the end of it all and for once!
Ending off with my favourite all time
** “DOn’t Quit”**
Don’t quit when the tide is lowest,
For its just about to turn;
Don’t quit over doubts and questions,
For there’s something you may learn.
Don’t quit when the night is darkest,
For its just a while 'till dawn;
Don’t quit when you’ve run the farthest,
For the race is almost won.
Don’t quit when the hill is steepest,
For your goal is almost nigh;
Don’t quit, for you’re not a failure
Until you fail to try.
