The reaction to this should be a nice thank you, and that is by itself does not mean having inferiority complex.
Actively seeking/begging for good remarks is different than acknowledging someone's good comments.
At country level the PR department does this and that is different. Perhaps this article can be used for that purpose.
Now gloating over good comment by outsiders, we all would agree is not the thing to do.
