Re: Eye Colour Preference in Different Cultures
Do u also have green eyes? ![]()
Re: Eye Colour Preference in Different Cultures
Nop. :D
Re: Eye Colour Preference in Different Cultures
Ok. one thing i dont understand do black eyes truly exist or are they really a dark brown upon closer inspection?
Re: Eye Colour Preference in Different Cultures
^ I think they're just super dark brown.
The other eye colour I find quite pretty and unusual is that shade of blue that has hints of purple and looks almost violet. My sister-in-law has that eye colour. I think Elizabeth Taylor also had such eyes.
Re: Eye Colour Preference in Different Cultures
Then why people believe black eyes exist and they are rarest ones
even person with black eye appraised as a luckiest ![]()
Re: Eye Colour Preference in Different Cultures
^ I thought amber eyes were the rarest? Not light brown, but the ones that have a distinct yellow/golden colour with a copper tint.
Re: Eye Colour Preference in Different Cultures
In our cultures, beside color of the eyes, its more about shape of the eyes....
On one side we have 'Ye kaali kaali aankhen' and on other side 'Katahi aankhon wali ik laRki' and 'Neele nainon wala tera lucky kabootar'. These songs say that all colors are acceptable.
Then we have these lines:
Jheel si gehri aankhen uski..... Do nain kanwal.....
One more thing, though we got lenses of different colors in market, why we have kajal and surma only in black?
how about nai'n GhazaalaaN? [hirnii jaisii aaNkh]:
**
tujh lab kii sifat la'l BadaKhshaaN, soN kahuuNgaa!
jaadoo haiN tire nai'n GhazaalaaN, soN kahuuNgaa!**
:)

Lol i don't think its the rarest because i have seen plenty of people where im from that have it. I heard green eyes are the rarest. As for the question in the middle east there isn't a particular eye, hair or skin colour that is preferred. However long ago pale skin, black straight hair and black large eyes were considered the most beautiful. This can be seen as far back to the time of the propher mohammed (pbuh) where the houris of jennah are described in this way so i assume that was the beauty criteria of that time as well.

That's quite interesting. I find amber coloured eyes quite pretty. I only know one person with that eye colour (a friend from uni whose family is Bahraini). Where are you from? Interestingly, green doesn't seem that rare to me as green eyes are super common back home (Afghanistan, I mean) and know loads of people green or green/grey eyes.

Yes green eyes are also common in the mid east as well, whilst blue is the rarest there. I'm from syria :) nice meeting you.
Re: Eye Colour Preference in Different Cultures
Green is the rarest worldwide but seem more common than blue in the ME and parts of Asia..
Re: Eye Colour Preference in Different Cultures
But even within her culture, I think many find her bone structure and features very striking. Freida is dark-skinned just like Deepika, Kajol, Priyanka…and many in the culture find these women attractive.
Re: Eye Colour Preference in Different Cultures
Maybe it’s just me, but I don’t find Deepika or Kajol to be “dark.” They don’t look any darker than the average desi complexion (in my view). Do people consider them “dark?” ![]()
Re: Eye Colour Preference in Different Cultures
They are dusky compared to Kareena, Katrina (well she’s not Desi), Alia Bhatt, Kangana. Some of them became lighter over the years ie:Sri Devi..Madhuri..etc. You may not consider them dark, but they are still not fair.
Fair skin is considered ideal in Desi society…so if these women don’t have this quality…then what is it that makes people of their own culture find them attractive? It’s the composition of their physical features, physique, etc etc.
Re: Eye Colour Preference in Different Cultures
No such preference in Pakistan culture as far as my understanding goes, though you get points for being unique.
More than the eye colour, what people generally prefer is long, wide, expressive doe eyes. Hence the phrase *hirni jaise aankhey *(eyes like deer) is a very common simile found in South Asian literature, and an equally common figure of speech in everyday language that effectively illuminates the desired notion of beautiful eyes. I think most South Asian ladies are blessed with beautiful eyes.
I always interpreted black as a colour of beauty for Pakistani romantics. In literature, black anything is generally associated with mystery, secrets, danger, pensiveness, sin and sensuality. Kaali aandhi, kaali ghata, kaale badal, kaali zulfai, kaali aankhen are all general metaphors and terms of poetic endearments in Urdu literature.

ohh yes me too. I read some where that blue eyes are a europeans trait which is why. I have seen even chinese people with green/ hazel eyes but almost never with blue eyes. Personally all eyes colours i find are beautiful :)
Re: Eye Colour Preference in Different Cultures
My friend has black eyes although she is european, i have to admit her eyes look very strange but maybe thats because she wears no eye makeup, i have also seen a east asian girl with black eye without eye makeup her eyes look wierd but with it they look amazing!
