Re: Extreme Couponing
itâs the only thing that is tolerable on tv other than the news channels for this one hourâŠ
watching maury and the like would be worse, no?
Re: Extreme Couponing
sounds more like hoarding to me.
Re: Extreme Couponing
I used to do it lol. Years ago when I didnât have much & was living paycheck to paycheck, I got into couponing big time. Now I was never as extreme as what you see on the show b/c I was only shopping/concerned about MY needs, but I understand how they do it and the amount of work that goes behind this. I used go be being to get $100 worth of stuff for like $10 lol. It requires A LOT of time, effort, and organization.
Depends. For me it was worth it back then b/c of my financial situation. These days, its not worth it for me b/c my job pays A LOT more than what I would save by spending time on couponing. Many of these couponers donât have a job so they have all the free time in the world to do this.
There is a web site where many of these extreme couponers use. In fact, some of the people on the show are well-known members there. While some do it in order to save moneyâŠ.for many extreme couponers, I am convinced that this is a psychological issue. Similar to hoarding. There are a few people who do this as a hobby/charityâŠâŠas in they enjoy the couponing process, keep what their family will realistically use, and donate the rest.
Re: Extreme Couponing
The second half of todayâs broadcast showed a woman that got $700 worth of groceries for only the tax amount of $24. She proceeded to donate all the stuff to Ronald McDonald House.
Then another woman that has a full-time job, three kids under 10 and another one on the way. She brought in a giant heap of stuff tooâŠbut kept it all. ![]()
I wish they had this kind of couponing in CanadaâŠI would do it just for a challenge and then donate it all to the food bank.
Re: Extreme Couponing
she could sell off that stuff and make money out of it. then this is not stupid.
Re: Extreme Couponing
Would you buy stuff from someoneâs home stock pile?
I donât think that I would. At least not unless it was at a significant discount.
Then that wouldnât leave much room for a profit for her would it?
After all the hours and hours of preparingâŠshoppingâŠthen selling it at a low rateâŠwhatâs the point?
Re: Extreme Couponing
I would be really embarrassed at the checkout if I did this. Somehow it just feels wrong to me.
Re: Extreme Couponing
I wouldnât.
Itâs not like weâre ripping someone off. You have to understand that coupons are designed to increase salesâŠthey are created and distributed by the manufacturers and retailers to attract business in one form or anotherâŠwhether that means they offer deep discounts or free stuff to get people hooked to the product or service.
And for every item purchased with a discount of some sort, there are thousands sold at list price for outrageous profit margins.
Re: Extreme Couponing
the only thing i like to do is match the flyers for vegetables and fruits.
In canada we dont have that many coupons and even if we do, they usually have an expiry date.
as for the show, i only like to watch âWhat not to WEARâ on TLC.
Re: Extreme Couponing
you will always find a set of consumers that would buy from home stock pile if things are offered at bargain rates.
and suppose a product market price is $ 10, the lady with coupon got it for $3, she can still sell that off at $6 to $7. she would still be making good profit margin and the buyers would be saving too.
Re: Extreme Couponing
agreedâŠthat makes sense.
where you and I differ is on the calculation of the cost.
I donât consider her cost to be $3 if she spent 40 hours planning for the shopping trip and another 6 hours executing it.
