Re: Excercise Tips for Women

Sara are you serious. I make sure I go, because it makes me feel good, helps with the cramps and helps with the ‘flow’ if you know what I mean. In particular on the first day, I always go. Spinning, treadmill, step class - whatever, it shouldnt make a difference! Take some tylenol if you have to.

Also, you burn twice as much when you are on your P!!! Ever since I read that somewhere, I always make sure I go, because for some reason during your P you are bloated and your body produces more heat so you burn twice as much as you do during normal days. Do not skip gym during that time of the month!

I swear, this is why ppl think we (women) are so lazy and unproductive and thus dont deserve equal pay, coz we’re xpected to sit around on our ass and do nothing coz God forbid, our precious reproductive system will be forever ruined if we decide to wash our hair, take a shower, or go for a jog  Err yeah getting back on topic.. nah I dont have any issues with going while on it.. but i sure do use it as an excuse to have me some chocolate :clown:

Re: Excercise Tips for Women

If someone can give me some medical/biological reasons that we shudn't xercise while on our period, then ill take it into consideration.. ive read (n experienced) that regular xercise definitely lessens the pain of cramps.. I know for months I felt intense pain, but as soon as I start workin otu for a coupla weeks, i wont' feel too much the nxt month.. :)

Re: Excercise Tips for Women

Sara516 and Cat woman you guys are right about exercising during periods. Some girls that I have seen or met believe that during those days they feel comfortable laying on a bed and sleep all day but then it depends one one's body too. Exercising is one of the best ways to make your period more bearable! When you exercise during your period it increases your blood flow and loosens the muscles in your stomach, thighs and back. Exercise also gives you endorphins, which is the body’s natural painkiller and will boost your mood, making you less sensitive, depressed or angry.

For physcially weak girls (would suggest to take a slow walk instead of exercising), during their period heavy menstruation can lead to loss of iron, which may make them anaemic and reduce the oxygen-carrying capacity of the blood. This might have an adverse/bad effect on endurance capabilities. Monitoring of endurance capabilities should be avoided as the heart rate can be elevated during this time. For those of you that are not anaemic there is no reason why you can’t exercise during these days.

I understand grlz who wont do it because they feel uncomfortable and too much pain to do anything.. I dont think u necessarily have to go running on that day, but if you start afterwards, it will deff make it easier in the nxt few months.
