Ex-LHC judge released on bail after 22 years

Re: Ex-LHC judge released on bail after 22 years

you are suffering from mush-o-phobia, now since when every single prisoners name are in presidents diary? so he make a call daily to keep in or out the people. sure it wouldnt happen but blamming every disfunction of the system on one person would not create a healthy discussion.

Dear Musharraf supporter, one of your fellow Musharraf supporter, who is really desperate these days and suffering from Nawaz Phoebie pointed out that this was all Nawaz Sharif's fault and he got arrested then (which by the way turned out to be wrong), so I should point out that the great dictator who has been in power for 8-9 years and wants to rule forever didnt let this guy go either. Ab kuch samajh ayi aap ko?

Re: Ex-LHC judge released on bail after 22 years

well he was not directly responsible for this person to keep him in jail at all cost. and believe me this person is not alone, we have thousends of people in jails with no or very minute crime for years something ignored by the in effcient systems we have in place.

initially he may have been subjected to jail by zia supporters and then default systems takes over after zia blown away. most importantly he had no one to persue his case from outside of the jail, as things are not done automatically in Pakistan we all know that.

True, and someone before me in this thread blamed Nawaz Sharif, what do you think about that? He should get a lecture from you before me, dont you think?

Re: Ex-LHC judge released on bail after 22 years

what i said is across board, if nawaz didnt have any specific requests to keep this person in jail, I dont think he was responsible for this either.

That's because the news report had said he went to jail 92. Since, the news is wrong, I no longer blame Nawaz, but some responsibility still falls on who ever was leading the Court system all these years. And that includes your hero Ifiti.

And there are some people who care more for the enemies, who knows they might be doing it for the limelight.

Exactly, you don't know, so think twice before writing against a great man like Burney. Don't get too impressed by Spock's diatribes.

Re: Ex-LHC judge released on bail after 22 years

This is what Burney is doing while others continue to write useless stuff about him.

Burney seeks release of Pakistani from Indian prison

Re: Ex-LHC judge released on bail after 22 years

^ oh wow, he sent an appeal letter to the Indian Govt, MUST BE SOO HARD RIGHT? but the fact of the matter is, he (Burni Singh) is doing it because of all the negative publicity he got because of his role as caretaker minister. I dont see him working as diligently as he did for his cousin Kashmir Singh. He did more than just write an appeal to his boss Musharraf to get Kashmir singh, a convicted Indian spy out of prison.

How many pakistani prisoners have you had freed from pakistan and abroad? How many appeal letters have you written for the release of Muhammad Naseer? Did you even know about Muhammad Naseer before Burney bought attention to his plight?

Yeah, I thought so. And why do you think he going to India when he was deported? Vacation? I remember you being very excited about that, but in your excitement you forgot about the reason for his trip and how that will affect pakistanis wrongly in jails over there.

If he went to jail in 1992, then how come he was 22 yrs in jail instead of 16yrs. It looks he he was thrown in jail in 1985 or 1986 to spend 22 yrs in jail.

If this was the only crime he committed by calling Mrs. Zia-ul-Haq, not only deposed judges including non-functional CJ, all active judges, NS, PPP, AH, all politicians, all wakla bradri including champion of justice Aitezaz Husaain and last but not the leas Mush should be ashamed of not releasing him earlier and compensating the poor judge for calling that stupid lady in the court.

I already said that I made the mistake of taking a news report at face value without checking it first.

Am I the damn minister for human rights in Pakistan? Burni Singh, an associate of Altaf Bhai was the damn minister, who likes to parade his large head in the media.

Whatever he was going for, this just shows he was either a foolish incompetent person or hes under India's influence, like his don sahib Altaf Bhai, who likes to make anti-Pakistani statements in India to avoid getting deported.

Re: Ex-LHC judge released on bail after 22 years

He saved hundreds of people from jail and captivity BEFORE he was any minister and only a regular citizen. Do you need to be a minister to figure out how to write a letter? I suspect you might be part of the camel jockey trade as those are the only people who hate Burney so much.

And how did Altaf get into this discussion again? You are truly obsessed with him.

More great work by Great Burney:

Child camel jockeys find hope

BBC News, Dubai

Child camel jockeys in Muscat
Child jockeys get ready to race in Muscat
Children from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sudan are still being smuggled to the United Arab Emirates to work as camel jockeys, despite a law passed two years ago banning their use.

It is illegal for race clubs to use jockeys younger than 15 or weighing less than 45 kilos.

But young children can still be seen at racetracks across the UAE, and aid workers estimate there are up to 40,000 working across the Gulf.

Now the Sheikh of Abu Dhabi has given his backing to a new centre, set up to find and rehabilitate child camel jockeys.

Starting over

One of its residents is Akbar. He’s mad about football and the best thing about his new home is the chance to play with other boys.

There was a child in the camp… because he wanted to leave the camp… one of the racetrack owners ran over [him] in a truck and killed him
Akbar

**Akbar is eight years old, and has spent almost all his life living and working as a camel jockey at a race track in Abu Dhabi.

Four days before I met him, he was picked up by police and brought to the new rehabilitation centre, the brain-child of human rights activist, Ansar Burney.

“We are giving them an education,” Mr Burney tells me, as he shows me round the neat classroom and air-conditioned bedrooms.**

“How to sleep, how to take a bath, how to go to the toilet: they don’t know how to use the cupboards; they don’t know how to sleep on beds! This is all new for them.”

Children in the bedroom
Many of the children had not slept in beds before

But for many children starting a new life also means dealing with problems left by their old one.

Tucked into a corner of the complex is a small, well-stocked clinic.

**It is not uncommon for child jockeys to fall off and be injured while racing, and their illegal status means race track owners are often reluctant to take them to hospital.

Instead, says Ansar Burney, the boys often arrive with broken hands or broken legs. And many, he says, have been sodomised.**

Harsh past

One boy shows me the scar he was left with after being trampled by a camel.

Burney with children
Ansar Burney with the rescued jockeys

Crudely stitched, it stretches from his chest down to his hips.

Many boys here remember children at the race tracks being injured. Others like Akbar, remember even worse.

“There was a child in the camp, and because he wanted to leave the camp and go to Dubai, one of the racetrack owners ran over the child in a truck and killed him,” he tells me.

Few boys have any idea who their real parents are, or where they come from.

And that, says Ansar Burney, makes it difficult to trace their families - or to get them out of the clubs in the first place.

"The police ask me for the name of the child, the father’s name, the name of the place and the name of the owner of the camp, so it’s very difficult to find this information for each and every boy; these boys arrived at the racetrack when they were six months old.

**“But I’m trying my best to save as many children as I can.”

Others are trying their best to stop him.

There are powerful interests connected to the camel racing sport in the UAE. Ansar Burney says he’s already received threats against his family.**

The centre is housed in a military base.

While armed guards remain outside, the boys can enjoy cartoons and football. But they have few or no family connections or educational prospects beyond their new home.

So the question is - where will they go from here?

Re: Ex-LHC judge released on bail after 22 years

Stop posting the same thing over and over again, especially 4 year old articles to prove a moot point. Burni Singh is nothing but a showman. The fact that he kept trying to call Kashmir Singhs family while the camera was on him and his buddy, to some how dramaticize the whole scene was enough for me to realize he was trying to catch the spotlight.

Burni Singh will only be remembered for his role in freeing Kashmir Singh, a convicted Indian spy, and then maybe getting deported. Thats what he did to become famous in his stint as caretaker human rights minister for India in Pakistan. Thats about it. No need to make a hero out of such a guy, hes already realized it and is now keeping a low profile.

Re: Ex-LHC judge released on bail after 22 years

He's a hero around the world. May Allah bless Ansar Burney. A great man, and a great freedom fighter. I can understand that you are upset because your camel jockey business has died down.

Re: Ex-LHC judge released on bail after 22 years

To you, Altaf Hussain is also a prophetic hero, enough said.
