Evolution.....was there a need? God created man perfect, in his own image

if you look at the discussion thusfar, you have given quite smart answers to my questions, but several important questions are still left unanswered:
1. Why hasn't evolution in so many years made sure that our arteries are better protected against atherosclerosis? Or we can take some other disease: why haven't all humans become immune to for example TBC?

  1. Why does one play chess? or become a religious person? it has nothing to do with passing on genes, has it?

in light of this second point it is interesting to discuss the following matter. (I'm now focusing more on "homo sapiens sapiens"): Why does a child when he grows up take care or worry about his parents?????
Because from an evolutionary point of view, parents are "useless" once you have grwon up!!! (I know that in the Western world (=Europe and America) ppl not taking care of their parents is becoming normal, but there are a lot of places left in the world where ppl find it very important!)**

Okay Nescio,

Let me start by saying the theory of evolution is not a cure for all ill's. i too am a muslim and see no conflicts.

Your first point, this is an agonisingly slow process, be assured people with ill health are on the whole being weeded out of the gene pool. The type of evolotionary change that you are talking about will take millions of years to come to fruition. Howveer, our progress in medical welfare is a counter-acting force to this...technology itself can aid or hinder change. man has eveolved over 50 Ma years to get to wehere we are today....recognisable in his present form from about 2 ma ago. You are talking about 1000's and 100's of years....nothing percepatable over this very short time period.

Okay the black death during the middle ages, about 700 years ago wiped out 1/4 of the worlds population.....who is to say that those who survived are not in some way more immune to such a future event.....one explae of how we are evolving immunity...but alog with us virus's are also mutating and evolving.

Not everything we do in life is inspired by a need to evolve, playing chess an amusing pass time. Looking after ones parents a socially driven phenomena...again not directly linked to evolution

Finally a quick note....the theory of evolution is just that ** a theory **, not all aspects of our technology shrouded lives can be explained by this theory. In hindsight maybe in a few million years the most striking events that moulded and changed us will stand out.

Nescio, it's like me asking you to show me time. Bye describing passed events or future events you may convince me. Like time evolution can be theorised about having occurred in the passed and possible paths to the future. But in one snapshot (human civilastion from 10 000 years ago to present) you can see nothing.
