Basic problem here is that we are assuming that we are doing things based on some physical/chemical/geneticasl reason.
True to some extent. But when it comes to behavioral part such as lying or whatever, we just do not have no evidence for it and no one can prove it otherwise.
Hence to many of your questions I answered the way I answered.
If we start blaming our actions on genes/chemicals/parental or maternal habits then it will eventually lead to a situation of irresponsibility of actions and interestingly, this cannot be proven in any way or be refuted.
Allow me to disagree politely with your rationale of responsibility, I am not assuming that we are doing things based on our genetic inclination, nor I am professing impunity for the immoral deeds of anyone with this kind of genetic inclination, it is always “will” and intention of an individual that can and shall override any chemical, genetic or biological inclination for a bad deed. I have complete faith that Allah is just, with a genetic inclination comes a congenital resistance, a powerful conscience and a strong will to override it. Just like a blind have stronger sense to feel than one with normal sight.
It is always easy to refute an abstract thought, not because an abstract is hard to get a scientific approval (not withstanding the fact that science approves or disapproves a thing owing to its status of development at that particular time when an assumption is put to test under the microscope of scientific research) but because an abstract appeals to us only if it is conceivable to us and does also resonate with our belief and bias, with that said let’s try to find some legs to my arguments.
Science is knowledge of matter, anything that is non matter, or metaphysical is beyond the scope of scientific testing. How do we acquire scientific approval for non matter or things metaphysical in nature, pain, for instance, be it physical or psychological is a non matter yet known to us either by our experience or by its manifestation in the victim. We have developed a gigantic pharmaceutical industry around pain management yet can not see a particle of “pain” itself under the microscope of science.
There have been researches that prove smoking to be inheritable, so are the researches about alcohol usage, chances for the offspring of a smoker or an imbiber to follow the suit of their parents or grand parents are much greater but genetic inclination does not dictate the process of conscious decision making., thus question of salvation from bad deeds should not arise.
The subject of Halal and Haram is much deeper than it appears to most of us, nutritious value of a stolen chicken or purchased with Haram money may appear same to the nutritious value of Halal chicken or it may be different yet foreign to prevalent scientific standards thus oblivious to our eyes but I am unable to conceive the ideology of considering spiritual value of Haram food same as Halal food. If nicotine can have long lasting effects not only on the one who is involved in its consumption but to his/her future generation /s, haram food should have far more devastating effects.
Happiness, pain, pleasure, joy ,violence and all other such phenomenon do not appear physically yet initiated by hormonal activity and manifested by our behavior , hormonal activity is two way, either an activity is started by the hormones or hormones can be created by starting an activity. Now think of the mechanisms of creations of hormones and involvement of human genes in it?
Have you heard, and I am sure must have heard, about psychosomatic patients, do you agree that we can really induce disease into our system just be thinking and believing that we have that disease. If genetic mutation can be initiated by brain activity then we may not plainly deny its mutation by involving into illegitimate or unnatural relationship or for that matter Haram food. If a mother with cancer can transfer it to her baby, can she not transfer a hormone for the excitement that is involved with illegitimate relationship, if she can transfer nicotine into the system of her off spring can she not transfer the habit of stealing as well?
There was no need to come with the examples of son of Hazrat-e-Noah or father of Hazart-e-Ibrahim, they were indeed among the “Ayah” of Allah, we can find many examples around us and like I said before it is always will that overrides every thing.
