Every Generation Blames the one before

how can this be corrected?

for what?

Interesting thread :)

I’m among those who criticize the elder generation for a lot of things – I don’t blame them though. I don’t think I understand ‘blame’ so my long lecture might not even be relevant, in which case huh!

I don’t want this criticism to end, cus that shows that we care, for the old and we are interested and excited about the future, or that’s how I function anyway. Hmmm.. I criticize them for introducing us to the inhumane and sick traditions for the most – I also criticize them for not being more supportive in fighting the old torturous traditions. That would pretty much be it. Or perhaps sometimes I blame them for silly little things but that’s usually meant as joke, and they understand :)

As for blaming them, that doesn’t change anything, criticism doesn’t either, unless it’s constructive, so if anything baseless and useless criticism should end. How – hmmm well by understanding and accepting that it’s your life and you and only you are responsible for whatever good or bad happens. However, sometimes its easier to just tell all the others how stupid they are, instead of facing it up front, which can be very difficult at times. Another reason that I use for criticizing my elders is, that at times they just don’t want to see things from my perspective – generally in our society changes are bad, which doesn’t go along with the western philosophy about changes being good or at least interesting. So a lot of things are considered bad or taken as if we are blaming them, while it could also be a lame way of telling them that things have changed, and we need to see where we stand in this new world. :)
