As I interact with some of learned Jewish believers from Mumbai, they inform that Moses was born to be a prophet by the will of Almighty God, which they refer to their Talmud and Torah (sacred to them like Quran for Muslims and RigVed for followers of Sanatan Dharma including me)...Here are some of the accounts which I have been informed according to Hebrew Bible...
Coming back to Islam...as I enquired previously and also some moderate Muslim scholors agree that Muhammad was not a prophet by birth. His wife Khadija and ten year old Ali Ibn Abi Talib, were the first to believe that he is a prophet.
Also non-Muslims like me, with due respect to Muhammad, debate that if Muhammad is a born prophet then he must have known divine signs since early age of his life.
As a matter of fact, Muhammad was born in an Arabian family settled in Mecca (as per notable historians He was born in Quraysh tribe of Banu Hashim clan).
Mecca was a great trading center, because it was a home to a shrine (what is now Muslim believers call Kaaba) for Pagan Arabs, as well as Jews and Christians. All tribes and inter-faith people were able to trade safely in Mecca during pilgrimage periods, because war was forbidden during this period (before Islam this practice was in existence).
Muhammad also became a merchant and started travelling with his uncle for trades, as a merchant He also travelled as far as Syria.
Muhammad was also having a cousin, with whom he use to interact, who was follower of Christian faith. The name of his Christian cousin as mentioned by some historians is Waraqah ibn Nawafal.
Therefore, from a neautral perspective, there is a possibility, that Muhammad may be aware about Prophets of Israelites and Jesus, hence mentioned in his revealations???

*First signs of Hazrat Mohammad (pbuh)'s prophethood were observed and confirmed by Jewish scholars of that time. It is well documented in history and was mentioned in the Jewish holy books. I suggest u contact your Jewish sources in Mumbai and ask them to look in their scriptures and give you the whole story. *

Islam is not based on theories, it's true facts.
1.1 Among Prophet Muhammad (Sallallahu ^alayhi wa sallam)'s miracles, the Qur'an, the splitting of the moon, the dead animals respond when he asks them who he is, the rocks greeted him, the trees testified for him.
1.2 Qur'an, itself is a Miracle. Knowing Prophet Muhammad through history, and reading the Qur'an, proves that this Book is not man made, it's by the revelation of Allah onto the Prophet peace be upon him.
He is a Prophet because groups of people from different countries reported witnessing his miracles, all those group cannot gather one a lie. Just like we different groups of people told us about China, when we never saw it.
His teachings about the world and changes, and things that he spoke about over 1400 years ago, and that people discovered now, are a sign that he is a Prophet.
