I agree the previous generation was empty.

And unreasonable too. Why Bergkamp retired from int'l team during his peak years is beyond me. Totally unpatriotic :~D

can you put some light on that nes?

I agree with Xtreme, it will probably be France/England final.

i don't think it was unpatriotic. I guess, he realized that with all those internationals his schedule was getting to busy and he couldn't handle it anymore. Actually he didn't retire at his peak. After his retirement he didn't expect to carry on 3 years for Arsenal actually. He wanted to retire from whole football one year after his international retirement. However, in the domestic season he played some brilliant matches and that's why he has carried on playing for a few years.

Some ppl have said that he should come back, but as of yet he doesn't feel much for it

ehsan: et tu Brute! you too?????? England! come on. Italy, Spain, Portugal, Germany, Czechia (man, what irritating spelling it has..I've even forgotten the Dutch spelling ) are all teams better than England

^ Czech Rep :-p

wats it in Dutch? Tsjechie?

^Yeah that should be right!

I don't really understand where this confidence in Holland is coming from? Their performances in competition has been awful for years now, their best players are incapable of playing as a team...am I missing something here?

^ 1- I’m a dutchi, if I don’t have confidence in my team who will?
2- They’ve played a pretty decent string of test matches (no defeat in 25 consecutive matches!)
3- True they didn’t perform well in the cometition matches but they have an excellent record when it comes to ‘big’ championships
4- I hate the brits
5- I HATE the brits
6- It’s makes it all the more fun when you have a team to support

:jhanda:

Yes I think number 4 & 5 sum up the logic of most of your reasoning

if you look at the last 5/6 major competitions, Holland has performed better on average than the Brits have. Apart from the last WC they have regularly made it to the semis and at least to the quarters

and they've usually lost on penalties while being the better team in the 120 mins. So if they can just get this last piece right, they have everything to succeed

england al the way baby! although i don’t think we’ll win with most of our players being totally burn’t out man we have no winter break system in england our players play premiership matches + uefa cup + champions league + fa cup et cetera too much football more chances of injury and england r already without three top defenders for the euro champs’ gareth southgate is out, so is rio ferdinand the player of the 2002 world cup for england + jonathan woodgate is likely to miss it 2 :mad3: so our chances already look glim i truly hope we go as far as possible come one england.

france for me r the fav’ this year, henry on fire so is pires + viera et cetera also spain and italy have a good outside chance…

na naaaaaaaaaaaa na na naaaaaaaaaaaaaa na naaaaaa nanana na lal lala alalaaaaaa ENGLANDDDDDDDDDD !!!

Problem is England have a diabolical record in the european championships. Only real achievement was euro 96 semi final (helped by a couple of dodgy offside decsions against Spain) and a semi in 68, but even then it was a reduced tournament, I think only 4 teams took part after the qualifying rounds.

Also England only have a few real good players if any of them are out theyll struggle badly. This is from a England fan too,

My guess is France, seems like there year, even their club teams are doing good in europe, and surely they cant bugger it up agian like they did in the World Cup.

re point 2, there is no such thing as test matches in football, u r mixing ur cricket with football. no defeat in 25 matches i beg to differ, netherlands lost to the czech republic on 10th of septermber 2003 in the euro 2004 qualifying round. since then they haven’t played 25 consecutive matches to date.

re point 3, the netherlands didn’t qualify for the world cup in 2002, surely that would make the following extract look very glum>>>> “but they have an excellent records when it comes to big championships

Holland? lol

England? Can't back them since that moron captain and coach are incharge.

it's France vs. Czech Republic Final - and Czech taking it home BABY!!!!!!!!

BRING IT ON!

That is one impressive set of midfielders.
