Its pretty simple really. Lets say that in 2008 Obama won 52% to 48%. In 2012 his vote among the White declined and he would have lost the election, and ended up say with 48% votes. However the number of voters who are of ethnic origin has increased and that increase was more than enough to offset the decline in the White vote. So therefore ethnic minorities ensured the election of Obama.

Quite possible when we talk about the relative change.

But not sure if still the absolute number of votes towards Obama were higher from whites. Need to look at the stats closely.

The difference of issues however minor still could be a factor though.

I mean the racial difference should not be looked as ‘the reason’ or major reason for Obama re-election.
