Even the writer admits Whites are 74% of US population and moreover the children of non-whites make up more than half so how can it be that non-whites themselves would elect any president? Just wondering what is the logic behind this kind of assesment.

Could this a biased or apologetic thinking from Romney supporters?

Its pretty simple really. Lets say that in 2008 Obama won 52% to 48%. In 2012 his vote among the White declined and he would have lost the election, and ended up say with 48% votes. However the number of voters who are of ethnic origin has increased and that increase was more than enough to offset the decline in the White vote. So therefore ethnic minorities ensured the election of Obama.
