Re: England V India - 3rd Test match

Meanwhile India has lost gour of their wickets for 100 runs in 2nd Innings

Re: England V India - 3rd Test match

10 wickets fell today. Kaan took one English wicket and 2 Indian wickets ( Swann bowled on rough created by Kaan spikes). Gambhir consistent - this time ran out Pujara. Yuvraj does not belong in Test cricket. Dhoni usual fishing outside off.

England bowling Fielding and field placement outstanding.

Abhinab mukund actually played well in England. Rahane waiting in wings. Throw the bums out. Bring on new players. Bunch of overrated ....

Re: England V India - 3rd Test match

What a day. After dismissing 4 English batsmen foe 25 odd runs India was off to a good start. But lost 6ickets. In post lunch session.Ashein playing a classic innings - at 82 not out with at least 18 missed singles due to tail. Gavaskars comment on Kohli dismissal was perfect. Kohli tried to drive ball outside off thru covers - but played away from his body. Resulting in caught behind. Gavaskar stressed this was not the time for heroics. Leave the ball alone or move your feet towards ball. Having seen the Little master shoulder arms, this has become a lost art.

The batsmen typically would play a couple of attractive shots and cave. Ashein showed conditions good. Played a sweet innings.

Re: England V India - 3rd Test match

To go from 86 for none to 239/9 is simply not good enough in home conditions. It is inexcusable. Swann (arguably the best English spinner since Derek Underwood) bowled well but this English attack is decent rather than menacing

England on the verge of creating history

Re: England V India - 3rd Test match

Alastair Cook, aged 27 years and 347 days, became the youngest player to compile 7,000 test runs beating Sachin's record (28 years and 193 days). What's more Cook is the first player to score hundreds in his first five Tests as captain

After 86 tests

Brian Lara 7375 Runs with 18 hundreds
Graeme Smith 7170 (21)
Sachin Tendulkar 7112 (26)
Alastair Cook 7102 (23) - He might score a few more in the 2nd innings
Ricky Ponting 6750 (21)

Cook's record (7102 runs at 50.36) is commendable but his achievement also highlights an important point. Greats from England and Australia (and even India) have an advantage over great players from other countries because of the sheer number of tests they regularly get to play (10-15 tests) in a year i.e. they play many more tests during their peak years. Cook (who made his debut in March 2006 v India at Nagpur) has played 86 tests in just 6.5 years. and he is still in his prime. 26-33 are generally considered a batsman's peak years in cricket. It might take a Pak player 11-12 years to get there (or to play 80 odd tests).

Marvellous week for Indian Sports. Olympic suspension, losses to Pakistan in Hockey & Blind Cricket, loss to England in the Test. What next?

Re: England V India - 3rd Test match

Not really. I was addressing mixing the blind cricket thread with this.

That the Indian cricket team is toothless and spineless has been established.

Re: England V India - 3rd Test match

Just like how you quote various mods all over the forum whether relevant or not. Two can rant you know.

Re: England V India - 3rd Test match

Looks like you are still licking your wounds from yesterday! Carry on!! You certainly can have the last word.

To address the rants against mods whether relevant or not is up to each individual. At the time, I felt it was relevant. In any event I issued a sincere apology abt 3 weeks ago on this issue. You wont find " rants abt mods" from me since.

An apology is a wonderful concept. You should try it too. Just to be clear we are having this discussion as posters from my POV. Cheers.

Re: England V India - 3rd Test match
