Most job positions in the US do no require you to take any exams to validate or augment your engineering degree.
However, if you don't have a full time 4-5 year degree, then you may want to be a bit careful. If for instance, you were looking at going into the academic field then you would need the proper equivalent degree.
Some companies include tests in their recruitment process, but these have nothing to do with proving that your degree is valid (just testing your knowledge).
I think that Canada is different. Do a bit more research because I do think that they have stricter guidelines for engineers.
