Collingwood was snubbed at the door of NZ dressing room at the end of teh match when he and his team wanted to hand shake with NZ
He says in Hindsight he would rather call the batsmen back or withdraw his appeal which he can't now
Funny statement ...... knowing well enough that Elliott was the last recognised batsmen ..... removing him eased Eng task but in the end Mills fought bravely enough to Push NZ over
Collingwood faces a ban because of slow over rate in the match. LOL He could be found guilty and ban for 4 ODIs or 2 test matches. That will teach him.
But is n't that so in most cases? :biggthumb can't say myself that I ever supported England in any sport....said it many times but I just hate the tabloid hype after every win - if they win one game they think they are the best in the world - and their usu. *rona dhona *after every loss. I even supported India when relations between us were supposedly not so good. I am talking of India's visit here in 1990 when Tendulkar aged 17 smashed a brilliant ton in one of the tests. The same series in which Kapil Dev smashed four straight sixes to save the follow-on in a test match!! I think the hapless bowler was John Emburey. maybe Some1 can correct me.
found the clip. Eddie Hemmings is the hapless bowler
see what I mean when I say Benaud’s (very knowledgeable though he is) commentary is dull, boring and sedate. He lacks the passion, energy and enthusiasm of say a Tony Greig or Bill Lawry. I mean the guy has just hit 4 straight sixes in a test match and Benaud is kind of giving the impression that it is the usu. run of the mill thing. Even now it is not a common sight in test cricket.
Staying on topic, Collingwood got what he truly deserved. That was complete rondi and bad sportsmanship. The rules say (and commonsense dictates) that you cannot be given runout if you are obstructed by an opposing player in the field. Elliot collided with Ryan Sidebottom. Benson, the English umpire gave Collingwood a second chance to reverse his decision but his mind obviously was more focussed on winning the game no matter how rather than upholding the true spirit of the game
I am glad that Colly lost on both counts. England lost the game and he himself got banned by the referee. Well done Srinath :)
