How am I belittling that point of view? I'm just pointing out that the belief of women not being the equal of men is championed by men such as Mullah Omar.

I believe that is was women who were belittled by the comment "the nation under the leadership of a woman is destined for nothing but destruction".

That comment you quote is not made by any person, but by the Prophet(SAWW) I think, however that can be examined separately to find out the context and reasoning for it.

For you, equality might mean being given the same positions, for others equality might mean being given the physically and emotionally just positions for each gender. That, however, is a completely different issue. Your comment did reek of ignorance if nothing more.

I don't care where the quote came from, it still reeks of inequality for women. Equalilty means just that, EQUALity. You can't have "equal except..." or "equal only when..." - call that what you want, but that is NOT equality. Physical and emotional yardsticks are stereotypes and prejudiced. Equality means everyone is given an equal chance to prove themselves - irregardless of race, sex, religon, etc. That being said, the ignorance you are smelling is from those who believe you can define equality based on subjective stereotypes.
