depends on what time period you are refering to…
early 97-2000 was the time that you have mentioned… 30 replies were considered a lot…
2001 was the year when things started changing and 3-4 pages were normal…
2002 we had atleast 25-30 regular flooders who used to log in at the evening time (USA east coast time) and if you look at threads of that time specially by disco duck, nikki, sandleen, ?, dewana tera, Rani Pakistani etc. you will see them going to 100+ replies easily… the golden period was from end of 2001-2004 from the olden days … 
2004 and later years cherished the foundation laid by the legends 
PLUS: quality was the criteria..
