can't really pinpoint any one kind
My favourite poets: Parveen Shakir, Ahmed nadeem Qasmi, Faiz ahmed faiz
It has its own charm, but I am not too much into it
My favourite kalam is by Shakel badyuni:

ay mohabbat tere anjaam pey ronaa aayaa
** jaane kyon aaj tere naam pey ronaa aayaa

****yun to har shaam ummidon mein guzar jaati thi
aaj kuchh baat hai jo shaam pe ronaa aayaa

kabhi taqdiir kaa maatam kabhi duniya kaa gila
manzil-e-ishq mein har gaam pey ronaa aayaa

***jub huaa zikr zamaane mein mohabbat kaa 'Shakeel'
mujh ko apane dil-e-naakaam pe ronaa aayaa*

once you become used to the restrictions it is not a bad place. However the fact that two of the holiest places of Islam are there has its own charm and attraction.

shukria for ur answers. yes, this Ghazal is lovely…one of my favourites too. i used to listened to this Ghazal by one of my city’s legendary Ghazal KhowaaN, none other than Begum AKhtar. This gem is definitely Shakeel Badaayuunii’s best, no doubt about that
