Pakistan’s National Commission for Human Development Just had it’s fund raiser, apparently the commission has done quite a bit of good work over the last year:

National Commission for Human Development (NCHD)
has enrolled over 68,000 out-of-school children in the
age group of 5-7 years since September 2002.

They thought of a smart touristy gimmick as well ( a bit to expensive for my tastes tho )

Come to rediscover Pakistan, to meet the President of Pakistan, General Pervez Musharraf and the newly elected Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali. Have a chance to interact with a diversified group of people including the local social elite and a strong contingent of international celebrities.

The whole project is a noble cause. Its not just gimmick. One of the objectives of this tour across Pakistan is to improve the image of Pakistan abroad. In this connection, of the 100 couples, a majority will probably be foreigners.

Additionally with the help of this project, the team will bring together 25,000 Pakistani expatriats who are earning big $$$. They'll take donations from them and further this project. Rest of the expatriates will be brought into this network too.
