Dubai... Questions... so

Re: Dubai... Questions... so

Like I said earlier, 'depending on the lifestyle of the person and his family', it is possible to live a decent life in 12k. If his lifestyle is luxurious, of course 12k might not even be enough for a single person, let alone one with 2 kids. But point is, there are options. You can get a luxury 2 bed in Sharjah or Ajman for the price of a studio in Dubai. It is possible to save, again, dependent on your lifestyle. You are painting a bleak picture, based on actions of irresponsible folks, who tend to borrow heavily, and ruin their lives. That is not the norm though.

Re: Dubai... Questions... so

Are there no families of 4 living on a 12k/mo salary and a lifestyle better than what they can have in pakistan?

Re: Dubai... Questions... so

Can you job jump in Dubai/mid east now?

Re: Dubai... Questions... so

^you have to finish the contract with the company that hires you first...or at least finish 1year with them or they will ban you for a few months..or something like that...

Re: Dubai... Questions... so

VERY difficult to do that!

Re: Dubai... Questions... so

I know some people in the financial sector at least who are working in different organizations in the Middle East now than they were a couple of years ago. However, the OP mentioned that his friend, who also started at 12,000 AED, is now making 30K + benefits working in the same company after 4 years. That is an impressive career advancement in a very short span of time.

Re: Dubai... Questions... so

Nope, wont be "better" than in Pak. Its really hard. Keep family back in Pak at least until you reach to around 20k or so.

Re: Dubai... Questions... so

Yeh qismat ki baat hai. Not many people are so lucky. And due to current world economic crisis, increments & bonuses are minimum to none. :(

Re: Dubai... Questions... so

^ Well he got 12k job to start from that is qismat ki baat too seriously & he will not be stuck to 12k for whole of his life. He is lucky coz ppl in UAE dont get nice & decent jobs unless & until they have "tagri sifarish" of some local & he got this job that means he is highly qualified & well experienced.

Re: Dubai... Questions... so

AED 12k per month is a decent amount, not ideal for a family of 4 with 2 school going kids, but not that bad. Cook at home, buy only what you need, and you will be saving more than you save in Pakistan with PKR 50K with similar lifestyle.

actually it depends on so many things, where you choose to live, what school your kids are going, how many times a week you eat out and where. Maintaining a decent non-luxury car is also cheaper than using public transport.

yes i know many. assuming they didn't "own" a luxury apartment or villa back in Pakistan and were renting a place to live.

Re: Dubai... Questions... so

Sahi farmaya. I agree it's probably not a great idea to relocate to Dubai with the family at once. I would still accept the 12K offer though unless I was already making a lot of money in Pakistan that could ensure sufficient savings and a comfortable lifestyle.

Re: Dubai… Questions… so

a normal living (apartment - flat) costs around about 8k dhirams , but that too for a couple , but if u live in ajman then maybe you can manage kids too. but its not a bad start.

good luck ,
