When someone races you at the light, the best thing to do is drive gently, get up to required speed by accelerating uniformly. Most times when there are lights, when a person races when light turns green, he gets caught at the next light. You can simply pull up to the next light as it turns green. And more often that not, you will be driving right past them, finding the proper seam in a multiple lane road.
Be sure to turn your head ever so slightly towards them, smile and wave.
Oh no need for this i always allow them a headstart i dont even stress about needing tospeed off lol
I once had this asian guy with his girlfriend in a kitted up honda and he was at the lights looking and smirking and revving his engine and kept inching forward all i did was put my foot down slightly and watched in satisfaction him trying to catch up lol! Haha im so mean but u do get a buzz out of putting cocky drivers in thier place

What kinda car do you drive?
I got beat by a Golf gti(I think it was a gti) last year. My accord, frickin elephant, kept up(kinda) until we hit 80mph. I just gave up after I was more than 10 car lengths behind. Besides there’s always the chance of getting pulled over by a cop.

Can’t stand it when people do this!!!
I’m a very impatient driver, always in a hurry, going in and out of lanes. Try not to swear n get angry infront of the kids but my eldest who is only 5 has picked up on it and is constantly running a commentary for other cars, hurry up etc!!!
All the elder Pakistanis here seem to have the habit of sitting in the fast lane and driving at 30/40mph, and don’t move no matter if someone is right up behind them or flashing lights at them, does my head in!!! Just move to the slow lane!!!
An BMW 330sport. i dont chance it on residential streets or busy areas not worth the risk or fuel wasteage!

Forgot to add - I curse. Not at the other drivers. But a badly synchronized lights. The hypermilers worst enemy.

There was this high horse power car that was behind our car for about 1 mile. Entering a roundabout, approaching it at 20 mph (supposed to be at 15 mph) he was getting frustrated. But that speed allows you to go thru roundabout smoothly - adjusting for cars inside.
As soon as we crossed the roundabout it was a 2 lane road. So the guy sped past. The light 1 mile ahead was green for both of us. Another mile 3/4 mile ahead was red when he reached it. By thus time I was about 1/2 mile behind. As I approached the light, it turned green. So I drove right past his stopped car.
He took that as a race. And revved up his engine and blasted past me.
It never was about racing.
Needless to say, the next light caught him. And the cycle repeats.
