How could educated people like doctors or engineers carry out such disgusting crimes? No justification whatsoever and dr usman is a shame not only to the army where he served in the army medical corps but also to his profession. No mercy should be shown whatsoever. He must have been brainwashed with Taliban ideoolog.

He served in the army medical corps but was not a doctor. It's just his alias.

Rights groups, new obstacle to justice. Hope Government and Army ignore them
**Rights groups slam Pakistan for resuming executions
**Rights groups Saturday condemned Pakistan’s decision to hang two convicted militants in its first executions for six years, as leaders vowed decisive action in the wake of a Taliban school massacre that left at least 149 people dead.
Pakistan described the bloody rampage in the northwestern city of Peshawar on Tuesday as its own “mini 9/11”, saying it was a game changer in its fight against terror.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif relinquished the six-year ban on the death penalty in terror-related cases two days after the school attack, with two militants convicted of separate terrorism offences the first to face the noose.
The Human Rights Watch termed the executions “a craven politicised reaction to the Peshawar killings”, demanding that no further hangings be carried out.
“Pakistan’s government has chosen to indulge in vengeful blood-lust instead of finding and prosecuting those responsible for the horrific Peshawar attack,” the group said in a statement Saturday.
The two militants hanged Friday in Faisalabad were Aqil, who was convicted for an attack on the army headquarters in Rawalpindi in 2009, and Arshad Mehmood who was convicted for his involvement in a 2003 assassination attempt on former military ruler General Pervez Musharraf.
Around 1,000 people turned up for their burial in the town of Kahuta, around 18 miles southeast of Islamabad, according to an AFP photographer at the scene.
Meanwhile, Pakistan put all its airports on red alert Saturday as the military intensified its operations against militants in the country’s lawless tribal areas.
The army was deployed to guard major prisons housing militants and a number of educational institutions, including the esteemed Quaid-i-Azam University in Islamabad, were shut indefinitely citing security threats.
Officials have said there would be up to ten more executions in the coming days.
Rights campaign group Amnesty International estimates that Pakistan has more than 8,000 prisoners on death row, with more than 500 of them convicted on terror-related charges, according to the government.
“This is a cynical reaction from the government. It masks a failure to deal with the core issue highlighted by the Peshawar attack, namely the lack of effective protection for civilians in north-west Pakistan,” Amnesty said about Friday’s executions.
‘Final elimination’
The United Nations also called for Pakistan to reconsider executing terror suspects, saying that “the death penalty has no measurable deterrent effect on levels of insurgent and terrorist violence” and “may even be counter-productive”.
The army has been waging a major offensive against longstanding Taliban and other militant strongholds in the restive tribal areas on the Afghan border for the last six months.
But a series of fresh strikes after the Peshawar attack, which wrought devastation at an army-run school, suggest the military is stepping up its campaign.
Seven militants were killed on Saturday morning in two separate incidents as security forces hit their hideouts in the restive northwest.
A US drone strike in the lawless tribal area also hit a militant compound killing five militants early Saturday.
As the Peshawar tragedy unfolded, Army Chief General Raheel Sharif said the attack had renewed the forces’ determination to push for the militants’ “final elimination”.
The atrocity was already the deadliest terror attack in Pakistan’s troubled history, surpassing the 139 killed in bomb blasts targeting former prime minister Benazir Bhutto in 2007.
But the head of the hardline Islamabad Lal Masjid slammed the army operation in North Waziristan as “un-Islamic” and said the TTP slaughter in Peshawar was understandable.
“O rulers, O people in power, if you will commit such acts, there will be a reaction,” Maulana Abdul Aziz told worshippers in his Friday sermon.
Around 250 people protested outside the Lal Masjid on Friday evening, denouncing hardliners like Abdul Aziz as Taliban sympathisers.
Later, the Islamabad police registered a case against the cleric for threatening the protestors after they staged a sit-in protest outside Aabpara police station demanding a case against the cleric.

Hang all the pigs

Feed them to pigs instead so we dont waste any rope. No burial for such bearded mullahs.
TTP = Jamat -e-islami = JeD = any other jamaat that speaks for TTP. Kill them all.

Thanks for clarifying. Still shocking an ex-army man could contemplate this.

You'd be surprised to know that he is not the only ex-army man involved in such activities. In fact, many of the major attacks on our installations, presidents (Musharraf) were actually carried out by ex-army men.
Re: Dr Usman Hanged
That is a betrayal not only to the country but the uniform. I think similar phenomenon has happened abroad in US and UK with some of the army soldiers. So this definitely happens worldwide.
The Lal masjid protests are going well. I think Abdul Aziz has been arrested. Congratulations to you and all the Pakistanis involved who attended and supported and to Jibran. He said students from Madrassas attended and there were people from religious minority background there as well.
Why can’t Pakistani liberals be allowed to pray inside the mosque for the victims? Why can’t they protest outside? So I am glad they are claiming their rights they have as Pakistanis.

The protest was organised by Jibran Nasir, a rights activist who hails from Karachi. The protesters started gathering outside Lal Masjid at 6 p.m. They shouted slogans against Maulana Aziz and lit up candles in memory of the school children, who were brutally murdered by the Taliban militants.
**“Today we have reclaimed G-6 sector from the clutches of Red Mosque. This protest indicates that liberal forces too have the right to disagree with the ideology of Maulana Abdul Aziz,” said Kapil Dev, one of the protesters. “Let them (religious students) shoot me dead. Being a Hindu, I will continue my voice for the innocent students of Peshawar.”
“Abdul Aziz is still a sympathiser of Taliban,”Jibran Nasir, who had contested election in NA-250 Karachi as independent candidate against PTI leader Arif Alvi, said while addressing the charged crowd.
The protesters shouted in support and condemned the cleric. Soon, the students of the seminary emerged and both groups started exchanging hot words.
A heavy contingent of police and elite force reached the venue, followed by Rangers troops.
“We will not leave the venue until we register our protest. We will not let Islamabad taken hostage by students of orthodox religious seminaries,” Jibran said, undeterred.
“Lal Masjid should openly condemn Taliban otherwise the government should take action against it,” he demanded.
Temperature flared when protesters chanted slogans like ‘Down with Abdul Aziz’, ‘Hang him’, triggering Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Islamabad Asmatullah Junejo to personally request the participants to disperse as soon as possible.
**But the angry activists refused to budge, arguing that if religious groups had the right to protest outside Lal Masjid then others should also be allowed to protest.
**The protesters said they will remain outside the mosque until a resolution is passed that included reopening of cases against Maulana Abdul Aziz besides asking private televisions to stop interviews of radical Islamists as it was spreading religious intolerance and extremism in the society.
The protesters further said that they wanted to offer prayers inside Lal Masjid for the families of the victims but police and the mosque’s administration did not allow, fearing it could escalate into a clash with the religious students inside the mosque.******

One of my Pakistani liberal friends sent this about the protesters who got arrested but was later released. Not sure if it will be useful in future but the phone numbers might in case you wanted to know. I admire their bravery and courage of these protesters.
My Pakistani friend who is with protestors published this on facebook.
I am sorry to tell you this news but rather than taking action against terrorist Taliban the SP Asmat Ullah Junejo of Aabpara police station has registered FIR against innocent civil society protesters who were protesting against Taliban at LAL masjid (known as taliban recruitment centre).
I request all my British, European and American friends to call Aabpara police station at number 0092519204830 register your protest and also ask them whether Pakistani police stands with Pakistan or Taliban.
Guys please it will only take 5 mins and it will send a message to Taliban sympathiser police officers that humanity won't sit silence on their crimes. The friends in UK can we also e-mail our MPs and get them involved. Remember we are not doing this just for Pakistan but for whole of humanity.
**This is the right number a journalist friend of mine just spoke to police they denied FIR but its confirmed that they have arrested 6 activists. 051 9204830**
**I love you all humans.
**
Apparently they got many calls from within and abroad, the news reached mainstream and the protesters were released.
Re: Dr Usman Hanged
Kill a hundred suspect terrorists in air or ground strikes without any trial and these human right groups are fine with it. Hang the terrorists after catching them red handed and proper judicial process and the same groups will come out making a hell lot of fuss about it. Really, how does it make any sense is beyond me.

Maybe i am wrong but i thought these rights groups were UN and amnesty international type rights groups who make these statements without understanding the situation rather than Pakistani specific ones.
