Who said they are only 1%? Do you have a source? Many Hindus migrated to India as well.
According to official figures they are 1 or 2%.

It was discussed here sometime ago on these numbers, may be you can lookup that thread. Anyway, creating a province just for 1-2% minority doesn't make any sense especially considering these minorities are widespread in the country.

hey if you accept that basis as an acceptable reason for the creation of pakistan - then this demand is entirely similar. opposing it on this basis is just hypocrisy.
however, as the people are spread out across the country (whatever their percentage of population may be) and unlikely to want to move away from their jobs and homes, the point is moot.
The statement is made to highlight the fact that the pakistanis are not acting in a very muslim manner of protecting its minorities - and thereby derogating one of the fundamental principles for the creation of the state of pakistan.
I doubt there is anyone here who can dispute the fact that the recent fate of the christian community has been bleak. churches being burnt by stupid illiterate of fundamentalistic mobs. I can totally understand the guys concerns - if you can guarantee safety and religious freedom to the christian minority - then they are better off handling those issues themselves.
After all - thats why we had the two nation theory.

The reason given for the need for separate nation of Pakistan was that the rights and safety of muslims could not be guaranteed in united India -
are you now able to guarantee that the rights and safety of the chistians, shias, ismailis, agha khanis?
we can’t even guarantee it for the majority let alone the minority - no wonder some are thinking it would be best if they were able to control their own affairs

As the security situation is bad for EVERY citizen in the country, would it make sense to split country in to million parts like each mohalla is a country so they can have their own "security"?
Security is not bad just for Christian or any minority in specific/general, its bad for everyone. Security alone can't be used as reason to carve out province/city/country.

As i said earlier that Dr nazir bhatti does not agree that the minorities are 1-2%.
The christians are mainly found in the punjab.
The brelvis and salafis are considered to be under the sunni branch of islam.
The agha khan and bohri are considered to be shia,s.
So there is justification for shia and sunni provinces but not for bralvi.salafi,agha khan etc.
This will be a bit like the christians asking for a protestant and a catholic province.

Pakistan Christian Congress PCC demanded Separate Christian Province in 1992 at Karachi and campaigning to press for division of Punjab in three federal units as Hazara Province, Seriaki Province and Separate Christian Province. The division of Punjab and NWFP is only solution to sovereignty and integrity of Pakistan.
Punjab being majority population federal unit of Pakistan is enjoying monopoly on resources of country, which have created doubts among other smaller, populated provinces.
PPP government is committed to change name of NWFP to “Pukhtonistan” and now PPP minister wants division of Punjab which is very encouraging statement to solve issue of provincial autonomy.
“But Muslim majority must remember that Christian leaders formed Pakistan by their votes before Boundary Commission but Muslims treated millions of Christians as slaves in Pakistan which must end now and due share in resources and land of Pakistan shall be given to Christians in division of Punjab” said Nazir Bhatti
The division of Pakistan in more federal units can end terrorism and Talibanization in Pakistan by abolishing term of FATA and declaring Bajor Province, Waziristan Province and Swat Province which shall make easy to administer these lawless areas to restore writ in tribal belt of Pakistan.
