While I can't speak for others, but when do I feel disrespected? It's when guys make assumptions or criticisms about women in their commentary, and present it in a way that's a generalization. If a guy directs his remarks to a specific situation, I think the comment is fair game, but when it's a hated generalization, then as RV said, the conversation devolves into a men versus women battle.

Its like playing the "woman card". If they haven't got anything to get respect for, they say at-least respect us for being a woman.

I don't think we should be making blanket statements about all women or even all Desi women. I suppose the easiest way for women to identify discrimination against themselves would be to see a situation in which men get treated preferentially, (ie employment, religious-law inheritance, civil rights, etc).

i noticed that most pakistani men on GS are respectful towards women though, it's different, maybe it's the religious side that keeps them from disrespecting and i've noticed that even if they do disrespect a tad bit, it takes some time for them to rethink how they acted .
