Re: Donkeys ‘tie knot’ for world peace in Temple
O yeah
Right. My mind is too closed to understand the “beauty” of the ceremoney, as you may call it … So what do you propose to do now. Get the cows, elephants, horses, rats, cats and every animal start getting married ???
Lahore, don’t even bother. Some people will even find beauty in a pile of siht.
Re: Donkeys 'tie knot' for world peace in Temple
Yeah, some poeple find everything very sweet.
I noticed in US, people use it a lot "ohhh, its sooo sweet" even if it doesn't even makes sense.
Re: Donkeys 'tie knot' for world peace in Temple
Only in the US can people be shown caring and loving to cats, dogs and horses while at the same time justify bombing hospitals, orphanages and schools in Baghdad...

Re: Donkeys 'tie knot' for world peace in Temple
A few years ago, in Ohio, hens were brought to a school (not sure why). Some hens escaped and ran on the road. They were caught fine but afterwords people were concerned if the road traffic etc. damaged them psychologically.

In an unusual prayer for world peace, residents of Poovalur village near Lalgudi, here performed marriage to two donkeys in the ancient Sri Thirumoola Natha Swamy Temple.
A male and female donkey were yesterday brought to a specially decorated dais put up inside the temple. While the ‘bridegroom’ was adorned with a silk dhoti the ‘bride’ wore a silk jacket and saree. :faizy:
After garlanding the donkeys amidst chanting of vedic hymns by the priests, a villager tied the nuptial knot on behalf of the male donkey, to the female.
Over 3000 people congregated at the temple to witness the ‘wedding’, which is normally organised in Namakkal area for appeasing rain god.
The villagers told UNI that the ‘Karththvya Vivaham’ was organised to appease the Almighty for world peace, prosperous trade and agriculture and to remove hindrances in marriages. Later, the ‘couple’ were taken in procession through the village, where many people took ‘aarathi’ for them. A common feast was also organised in which more than 1,000 people participated.
After the rituals, the two donkeys were donated to the temple.
