Nikki baji, I guess different people have different definations. I am just wondering how different people see this term and what is thier opinion on such people. ![]()
Oh achcha.
I see it as a guy who does all household chores very happily. Like cooking, cleaning, laundry, etc.
I guess hubbies do help a lot these days, but that term is probably not suitable. I can’t really say why, but it just doesn’t seem right.
Re: Domesticated guy....
I dont see what the issue is with being a guy who is concerned about his home, and wants to keep it clean, and wants to cook healthy for himself, take care of his clothes etc when single and share the right level of responsibilities with his wife depending on whether she has a career or she is a fulltime homemaker.
the term domesticated men to describe such men is as strange as using the term street women to describe women who go out of the house for education or careers.
Re: Domesticated guy....
lol Lusi, my brain picked up on what you meant rather than the language you used foremost and i fell into the same trap. but it does sound weird - like a house trained pet, doesn't it, hahaha.
dude!
when A dude is domesticated he is just not a Dude any more.
THe word 'domesticated' is usually applied to animals; for example, a dog is a sort of domesticated wolf. So I think this word has a demeaning connotation. The type of man you are describing does not sound effeminate to me; simply a well rounded, confident sort of guy. I would call such a guy responsible and my immediate crush :)
Re: Domesticated guy…
Jalebi, I said that I didn’t know the difference b/w two words and I am waiting for the mods to change the title. I honestly didn’t mean to call domestic guys animals and thank you for the opinion. ![]()

I didn't say there was an issue, since my friend said that guys involved intensely into domestic chores is kind of strange so I thought of asking how other people see them.
Again, I didn't know that domesticated and domestic have two completely different meanings.
hey lusi, it's cool...sometimes words have associations that are unintended. for example, one time i said 'no jhangian' when i really meant 'jheengay' at a dinner!
Re: Domesticated guy....
I can relate to the term because I live on my own, and am no longer in the stage where I can have my place like a complete mess all the time, which was primarily during school. Once you no longer have mumsy feeding you with the silver spoon anymore or making sure your laundry is done, this becomes a realization eventually. If a guy is not 'domestic' as per the definition in the thread, his friends, relatives, acquaintances wont enjoy visiting his place. Being on top of things, doing everything on your own, from house work ranging from cooking to decorating your house, to maintaining your own car can be a fun thing!
Re: Domestic guy....
I dont exactly know what domestic guy really means but I think the term describes a guy who gives # 1 priority to his family and spends most of his time at home or with family.
Re: Domestic guy....
To term anyone, male or female, domestic, I think that person would have to be someone who spends most of the time working on improving the home. Most likely not someone with another job. People who have other jobs but are also interested in the home may have domestic tendencies, but they are not like housewives and househusbands.
Re: Domestic guy....
I'm just wishing for a guy who can put their dirty glass in the sink.....sigh.
SO WHAT IF HE DIDN’T?
DID ANGEL OF DEATH ARRIVE?

Re: Domestic guy…
Just fr Lusi jee.
Re: Domestic guy....
well..when you are married....its your house as much as it is his..so i wouldnt really call a husband who helps out around the house. 'domesticated'.......its his job as well....if he use the bathroom..and makes a mess..there is nothing wrong in him cleaning it up......if she did the dishes for lunch...help her out at dinner...if she gets the kids ready for school....get them ready for bed at night...they are his children too..so why all the drama and the hesitation when it comes to being the man of the house....?? :)
Do you mean a "domestic" guy -- a guy who takes an active interest in the home?
"Domesticated" guy implies that he's been trained against his nature to stay at home, like an animal.
hahahaha
