Re: Does this fatwa make sense? Alcohol in soy sauce permissible?
The point was that you do not consume what is a known intoxicant whether "purposefully for intoxication" or not and you are cautious when you eat/drink food/beverages.

Re: Does this fatwa make sense? Alcohol in soy sauce permissible?
Isnt their some part that niyat (intention) plays in this? Ill admit though I messed up my words, what I meant was intentionally geting drunk is bad, unintetntionally getting drunk is not.
EDIT: the fact that it is a known intoxicant changes the idea. What I meant by "purposefully" was "intentionally" or "with knowledge" that intoxication will occur. In that sense, eating or drinking something without knowledge of its intoxication is not sinful.
Re: Does this fatwa make sense? Alcohol in soy sauce permissible?
get real, if somebody wants to get drunk it would be a lot easier to buy a pint or two than downing a bucket of soy sauce.
Intention is the main thing, to me it does not really matters. even if there is a fatwa by any tom, dick or harry, that soy sauce is haram because of the alcohol level in it. i would disregard it on the basis of reasonable thinking, am i comsuming soy sauce to get drunk? if the answer is yes then I should not consume it. but if the answer is no then where is the harm.
BTW now a days fatwas are like excuse (ppl you know what i mean) everybody has one; to cover their point of view. Please don't ask me for reference on this one because i am getting drunk on my orange juice.
Re: Does this fatwa make sense? Alcohol in soy sauce permissible?
you are running in circles now. Read posts above ![]()
Re: Does this fatwa make sense? Alcohol in soy sauce permissible?
i know bro, but what do you expect i am drunk on my orange juice.![]()
Re: Does this fatwa make sense? Alcohol in soy sauce permissible?
So you feel that coq au vin (a French dish which is chicken served in a wine sauce) is okay to have, because you’re consuming the wine as a sauce to moisten and flavour the chicken, rather than to get drunk?
Re: Does this fatwa make sense? Alcohol in soy sauce permissible?
absolutely yes. as far as i am concerned its just a sauce.
as i said. neat ka daar-o-madar amal par hai. or vice verca.
the problem is i don't care wat the clerics think., if i think it is right in a sane manner i dont give a flyin fish wat a mullah sitting in afganistan thinks about it. Alhamdullilah God has given me brain.

Its not what goes into the belly of a man that defiles him, its what comes out of his heart.

Re: Does this fatwa make sense? Alcohol in soy sauce permissible?
Are perfumes haram too then? What about cough syrups? :-s
Re: Does this fatwa make sense? Alcohol in soy sauce permissible?
^ Are perfumes intoxicating you?
Re: Does this fatwa make sense? Alcohol in soy sauce permissible?
How about we close down all our factories in Pakistan and scrap our cars under a releigous fatwa, eh? The Sulphur Dioxide produced by most industrial processes and the Carbon Monoxide and Lead And Nitrogen compound released in the air from car exhausts are toxic and do intoxicate. While we are at it, lets stop eating Roti because when bread is fermented, ethanol is produced and some of it might get trapped in the dough and it will intoxicate you if you eat 100-200 rotiyan. If we really claim to be good muslims, then shouldnt we stop doing all that?
The thing is, there is a line between right and wrong, and to see it you need intelligence and not fatwa IMO.
Re: Does this fatwa make sense? Alcohol in soy sauce permissible?
Cool so now i can have rotis with orange juice. ![]()
Re: Does this fatwa make sense? Alcohol in soy sauce permissible?
^ Sure if you can eat 200 rotiyan with 20 litres of orange juice and a bathtub full of soy sauce. :D
Re: Does this fatwa make sense? Alcohol in soy sauce permissible?
invite me man i'm close by.
Re: Does this fatwa make sense? Alcohol in soy sauce permissible?
When was the last time someone was found “intoxicated” with these “gases”? ![]()
Do you read what you post? or were you so fuming that you forgot to re-read?
Yes there is, so we can stop the “bashing”, cool our heads and criticize with sane voice/tone and act to the best of our knowledge and let Allah be the judge, shall we? ![]()
Re: Does this fatwa make sense? Alcohol in soy sauce permissible?
1) Dont take it personally, intoxication comes from the word intoxicate, which comes from the word toxic, meaning poisonous, either to the mind or the body, so these gases do count and I as just illustrating this to show that every last intoxicant as little as .01% solution doesnt have to be chased to be registered as haraam.
2) Bread = Roti, Roti = Bread and even if we dont discuss Roti, Bread is just as common a food as Roti, so just forget I said Roti, take it that 200 bread rolls have the potential to intoxicate.
3) Im sorry if I sound to hot headed, but fatwas just rub me the wrong way. Here are examples of fatwas...
It is ok to kill American citizens (including women and children). - Osama bin Ladin
It is ok to dig out dead Ahmedi buried in non-Ahmedi grave (I heard this one on GS sometime ago). *Unknown Mullah
*Sorry if I offended anyone...
Re: Does this fatwa make sense? Alcohol in soy sauce permissible?
^ lets not forget the context of the term "in*toxic*ation" :)
Re: Does this fatwa make sense? Alcohol in soy sauce permissible?
Q for ya- how do you find out that an Ahmedi is buried in a muslim grave without digging it.. this way you will end up digging up all the graves
Re: Does this fatwa make sense? Alcohol in soy sauce permissible?
^ I think he is referring to recent incident where they dug grave of known Ahmedi and reburied somewhere else.
Re: Does this fatwa make sense? Alcohol in soy sauce permissible?
Really? I am sorry.. I havent been keeping tabs on news of late. Wow, thats such a great thing. I am proud of being a Pakistani now.. It only happens in Pakistan!
