I love Coke and have never gotten drunk off of it. Nyquil has akyhall in it...does that mean its also haram?

Mashallah like brother krash said and brother javed confirmed, Coke contains alcohol and it is haraam. Inshalah from now on I am not putting any Coke in my Jack Daniels.

To all the bashers here, OP starter just asked if it really is haraam.

Why do you people start to feel offended and get the urge to scold/make fun of/insult somebody only because he wandered if its really haram?
Nobody told you to stop drinking coca cola, jee bhar ke peeyo.

As for me, if it really contains alcohol i will not drink it anymore. Dont drink it that often anyways.

There isn't a need to stop drinking coke. What is the most common solvent used in the pharmaceutical industry? That's right - Alcohol. Would you stop taking your meds too?

Nyquil is about as alcoholic as wine, so I avoid it. If you drink enough nyquil you would get drunk (though you would have also poisined yourself.. go to a hospital). The general accepted ruling from hadith is that if a large amount of something intoxicates, then a small amount is also haraam.

Coke and Pepsi may have alcohol, but no matter how much of them you drink... you would never get drunk. Thus they are non-intoxicating, and thus not haraam.

Dayquil, on the other hand, is alcohol free. Just have that instead!

What inspired these questions is a recent topic on National Public Radio program called “This American Life” where they seem to have stumbled upon THE recipe for Coke. The recipe that is supposed to be shrouded in ultimate secrecy because it’s a trade secret.

While reading the article was rather interesting. What caught my eye was the list of ingredients..and i’ll quote from the article below:

So what do you think, class? Has this recipe since its’ origin evolved to cater to a global consumer-base keeping in mind the major chunk of countries where consumption of Alcohol is prohibited and against the faith? Of course we can go to Coca Cola directly to get that answer, and some of us just might do that. For the moment, speculate and answer the What Ifs that are posted at the beginning of this post.

Personally, I would probably quit drinking Cola if it still contained Alcohol.

Nobody knows the secret ingredient of Coca Cola. It's locked up in a underground vault with 24/7 security.
They would have had a injunction placed if anyone did try to steal it.

No, I wouldn't drink it. I don't really like it anyway.
