Well Andhra, I believe it is not a Barbaric way as many of people think. Suppose, if a person murder one member of your family. What would you do then? Tell me from the depth of your heart? If that person goes to jail for ten years. Ain’t it possible he/she will come back and do the same thing again. The Islamic Law is great and I fully support that. If you want to get rid of Terrorism, you have to cut its root, which is definitely difficult BUT NOT IMPOSSIBLE. Musharraf said so, too
Aslo if anyone is interested in answering my post...
I have heard other rumors about Islamic traditions regarding Muslim Men taking of a wife by some sort of pre arrangement. I am not sure of many details but is it possible for Men to "Take" a wife in a situation that may not be consentual of both parties?
I have heard that this is true!
I have also heard that the age of the young ladies that are sometimes taken as wives are extreemly young.

Well mmmm first of all dont pay attention to rumours, if you have the mental capacity to comprehend facts then go out and study for yourself, before you start believing what muslims believe or dont believe.
muslims do not take women by pre arrangement, if you are referring to arranged marriages then thats fine, but the consent of both man and woman must be approved before commencing marriage, in certain 'cultures' a perverse side of this called forced marriages takes place, this is totally forbidden in islam and has absoloutely no connection in our religion.
when you refer to ladies being taken at an early age, i really dont know where your getting this from, but once again certain 'cultures' have age old customs of marrying couplets at pre pubescant stages, i reiterate this is a cultural deviation and has no basis whatsoever in islam. on the contrary islam dictates man and woman must be of sound and mature mind and have mutual consent before giving permission for nuptial agreement.
In answer to your earlier question, yes men can have more than one wife but only with the consent of his existing wife and only if he is able to financially support both and not compromise the maintenance of either wife.
Ask yourself why there is copiousamounts of adulterous behaviour in the west???
Once again i must point out there are many distinctions between religion and culture and you need to be careful before making judgements.
there is an old saying that 'a fool believes everything he heres and a wise man understands the need for proof'

Yeah, that's why I came here, to ask Muslims them selves.

in my opinion one of the biggest problems with the misconceptions about Islam is that there are too many people adding their own opinions into their practices and the passing them off as Islam.
If you are really interested in learning about Islam and not just personal attitudes and preferences towards Islam, I would suggest that you contact some local Islamic organization and talk to someone who has knowledge. Not to belittle the people on this board at all but looking for answers on a board, where mutiple nicks and non-Muslims posting under Muslim guises is a commonality, isn't the best way of learning about Islam. Also, of late the board's mood is quite charged up, another bad thing.
Some really good posters like Ibrahim don't seem to come here often either for some reason. So, I would just like to suggest to you that you try to seek answers from someone who is an authority on Islam. Or make an effort to filter the information you get here. Thanks!
Muslims make a bad name for themselves... And they are pretty damn good at it.
Some of the stuff I read on this site makes me pretty sick. Secularism is the way.
YEh, I think what Sambrialian is saying is quite true to be honest,I mean you can ask questions, but just dont expect the right answers, the best place for the right answers is the Quran itself,
or muslim scholars,
Adnan Ahmed bhai, welcome though I don't know what Mullahs will say about your views on secularism!!

Sambiralian If you remember I did raise a lot of questions a while ago, but they went unanswered.
Instead people started disputing my translations.
I am busy with other things, but I will definitely come back with more questions!!
I realize that a message board is not the best place to gather any kind of factual information. And many times I think people let their emotions get the best of them. Sometimes using the message board a place to vent frustrations and anger.
But it is a good place to get raw opinions.
I visit AOL message boards which are probably an exact opposite of this board as far as political and religious beliefs. And, unfortunately, they are a lot more hate filled.
I also visit Jewish message boards. Which (you could imagine) present a whole new set of perspectives.
It's a good place to find out what people really think.
but i try not to.
I have been to other sights and they are just the worst. Thank God for the moderators here… Thats why i chose this sight as opposed to the other garbage sights out there.
But its great that your willing to go out find your own info on issues…

4.I would say 99% of terrorist acts against the USA was done by muslams.
Every Muslim should be a terrorist Every Muslim should be a terrorist. A terrorist is a person who causes terror. The moment a robber sees a policeman he is terrified. A policeman is a terrorist for the robber. Similarly every Muslim should be a terrorist for the antisocial elements of society, such as thieves, dacoits and rapists. Whenever such an anti-social element sees a Muslim, he should be terrified. It is true that the word ‘terrorist’ is generally used for a person who causes terror among the common people. But a true Muslim should only be a terrorist to selective people i.e. anti-social elements, and not to the common innocent people. In fact a Muslim should be a source of peace for innocent people.
Different labels given to the same individual for the same action, i.e. ‘terrorist’ and ‘patriot’ Before India achieved independence from British rule, some freedom fighters of India who did not subscribe to non-violence were labeled as terrorists by the British government. The same individuals have been lauded by Indians for the same activities and hailed as ‘patriots’. Thus two different labels have been given to the same people for the same set of actions. One is calling him a terrorist while the other is calling him a patriot. Those who believed that Britain had a right to rule over India called these people terrorists, while those who were of the view that Britain had no right to rule India called them patriots and freedom fighters. It is therefore important that before a person is judged, he is given a fair hearing. Both sides of the argument should be heard, the situation should be analyzed, and the reason and the intention of the person should be taken into account, and then the person can be judged accordingly.
The reason that muslims are being portrayed as the bad guys, is mainly because of what happend on 9/11. People are very upset about what happend and being that the terrorist (or whatever…) were muslims, then that is a direct target, to angry americans, or other people. It’s not the muslims fault, at all. You have to understand though, that those people really put the muslim faith in danger when they came to america and did those thing’s and did it all in Allah’s name. It’s very sad! I feel for muslims all around the world because they are in danger because of something that isn’t even their fault. Think about it this way… if christians were to come to pakistan and kill/destroy pakistanis and pakistani landmarks then, pakistanis across the globe would be mad at christians. It’s just the way it works. It’s sad but true and it’s called LIFE. Instead of worrying about why muslims are considered the “bad guys” you should just practice and enjoy your faith and not worry about what everyone else thinks. Sure, it’s normal and ok to get angry when you hear people say something negative about something that is so close to you (like your religion) but you just need to stop right then, and pray for those folks. There’s an old saying… “The only person dumber than the dumb guy is the one who argues with him.” I think this quote applies here. Religion is such a sensitive subject and I personally, know that when you hear someone say something about your religion you just want to correct them. We’re sapposed to bring people to our faith but some people have a way of thinking and there isn’t anybody who can change how they feel. So, I think that when you hear people saying something like that you should just pray for them. Prayer hold’s a lot more power than people think. My philosophy is “Prayer is Power!” So, whenever I feel threatened by anyone about anything, I just pray about it. Usually, thing’s straighten themselves out when you go about it like that. So, back to the point…(haha) don’t worry about what other people think or feel as long as you feel secure with your religion and you know deep within that it’s the way to go… what other people think won’t matter.
