Re: Do you want a designer dress made at a fraction of the cost??? ?
Maria B is the best. I love her so much. She is so professional and trustworthy and reliable. We have her fedex clothes every so often, and she’s never sent them late. Her bridals are gorgeous.
Re: Do you want a designer dress made at a fraction of the cost??? ?
how can u purchase clothes from Maria B? I've seen her suits before and I love em however you cant purchase them via internet.
Re: Do you want a designer dress made at a fraction of the cost??? ?
Rani, what was the process like? I remember reading an interview with her, she said first step is to make an appointment.. Is she very nice? Will she design something for me that works WITH my figure, or make me feel like a failure for being too fat to fit into anything pretty?
And, how much would a semi-formal outfit from her cost? ![]()
Re: Do you want a designer dress made at a fraction of the cost??? ?
I'm lucky that my mom goes to Pakistan every year. She makes an appointment with Maria B at her shop, and sits down with her. Lately though, she just had a baby, and she's expanded her business, so you're more likely to get an appointment with one of her associates, but those girls are very nice and very responsible as well. You can go through her portfolio with her or you can look at her current designs that are in the store. She carries a lot of ready mades, and those can be altered to fit your figure. She can also give you advice about what will flatter you the most and what is best for your situation.
But just say you see a ready made, and want to make some changes to it, like color or material or size, she'll place a special order for you. But her minimum is either 8,000 or 10,000 rupees (I forget which one), meaning that the outfit has to cost at least that much if you want a special order. Her semi-formals start at about 8,000. These have little work on them, but they usually have some interesting tailoring to them. Her formals go from 10 to 75,000, depending on how fancy. And her bridals start at 100,000 for her older or simpler designs, and 125,000 and up for her newer offerings. It usually takes her a month to make something custom, and she can mail it to you if you want. You just pay her for the shipping costs, which aren't too bad if you DHL or Fedex them. Plus, these services can track and insure your package as well.
What I like about her is that she keeps her word and delivers exactly what you order. It's not like ordering from some bargelloshop type of place. It's good material and good kaam, and you get what you pay for.

hey raatkirani can u plzz post of the pics of the clothes u got from mariab and does she have a website??
Re: Do you want a designer dress made at a fraction of the cost??? ?
125,000 Rs? thats over $2000 .. most bridal dresses cost that much in the US !
I’d love to get a readymade not tooo fancy suit, but I’ll have nowhere to wear it ![]()
So have you ever bought her ready-mades? I would love to have her for my wedding instead of some cheap copy and goin through the hassle of bazaars..
Re: Do you want a designer dress made at a fraction of the cost??? ?
i’ve bought tons of maria b ready made outfits. I remember when she opened her first outlet at park towers in khi. She use to charge 700-800 rupees for a casual outfit and 2000-4000 rupees for her formal ones. I can’t believe how much she has jacked up her prices and the designs and fabric are all still the same. i went to her store last year and saw some of the outfits i bought for 800 rupess now selling for 2000.
Re: Do you want a designer dress made at a fraction of the cost??? ?
Hmmm...
U think shes worth it then?
Re: Do you want a designer dress made at a fraction of the cost??? ?
I usually end up getting her ready mades for casual and for semi-formal outfits. My mom will take them to a tailor to have them fitted. The only thing with her ready mades are that the materials are not the best. Instead of pure silks, the fabrics are synthetics. (I prefer pure fabrics, but synthetics are easier to care for and don’t wrinkle). Despite that, the kaam is pretty good and “mazboot.” But you always have the option of putting a custom order and using the top quality material.
Some of my cousins and my sister have had their bridals made by her and they were just drop dead gorgeous. My mother is placing an order for me for a formal lehnga, but that’s still in the works. I’ll try to post some pictures in the near future.
Mano, I don’t have a digital camera or a scanner at home unfortunately, but her website is www.mariab.com. But most of the stuff that I have of hers is semi-formals with a little kaam on it.

Re: Do you want a designer dress made at a fraction of the cost??? ?
hubby bought me couple of outfits from MariaB and also he has sent me some from the same designer and the dresses are just fabulous.. I think the most expensive one that he got from there was for Rs. 8000 and I haven't even wore it yet because that is a bit formal.. but the semi-formal ones are no more than Rs. 3000 and are way too elegant than the tailored ones where you also spend almost 2000 or so anyway.
I don't know about the rest of them but the one in Defence, Lahore has really good customer service and they always alter the size, add sleeves n everything without an extra charge and are always on time. Good service, I must say!!
Re: Do you want a designer dress made at a fraction of the cost??? ?
Next time i am DEFINITELY going there ![]()
Re: Do you want a designer dress made at a fraction of the cost??? ?
I bought some stuff from the MariaB in Clifton, and the cheapest outfit (very light kaam on the collar and sleeve ends only--rest of kameez, shalwar, and dupatta were plain) was 6,000 rupees! I thought it was expensive, but the fit was fabulous, and I bought stuff that could be worn over and over again. That was back in December.
I also visited her store in Park Towers, and the prices on some of the same outfits as the Clifton shop were jacked up by 1,000 rupees. So make sure to visit both shops before buying.
Re: Do you want a designer dress made at a fraction of the cost??? ?
I bought something on bargelloshop.com - and I can definitely vouch for the fact that the quality was completely disgusting. Without question the kapra was cheap, the stitching was low quality, and the worst part was the kaam which looked nothing like the picture I sent the "designer" there. Judging from the quality - I would say the guy who runs the site (who is a completely rude, unprofessional person) makes a 200%+ profit on everything he makes. Spread the word about them - don't let anyone you know waste their hard earned money on their "designs".
So, bottom line - be wary of any online businesses claiming to "copy" any picture you send them for half-price. Their idea of "copying" may be very different from yours - and unlike when you deal with someone in person - there isn't really a way "prove" that it doesn't look like the picture, since that can be subjective.

I am really amazed reading this anon10 .
although we are bargello competetors and perfectly understand they cant provide products as they show on their site becuase they scan them from magazines. they may look good in the end but they cant be same.
what i fail to understand is why they failed to provide atleast things that are in their control fabric quality, embroidery stitch, given they still charge too much for a ripper.
You know easiest way to judge a site whether they are genuine or ripoffs is amount of product images they provide.
if product is theirs you would find more than one image with proper details.
if ripoff: image would either be one, small size , or incomplete (only shirt, shirt+half trouser).
Re: Do you want a designer dress made at a fraction of the cost??? ?
I emailed Maria B a few days ago asking about some semi-formal outfits and pix for them. They’re pretty slow in responding, and I spoke wiht Shahzad..I’m hoping to get some stuff from her, just a few salwar kameezes ffor now and then get y bridal stuff next year ![]()
Re: Do you want a designer dress made at a fraction of the cost??? ?
Not sure about the site above I know they have some nice outfits and all but I had very bad experience with one of the best boutique in Bombay Roopam. Never trust what you see on line DONT EVER ORDER ON LINE thats my opinion…I personally think It’s waste of time and money I have wasted about $800 on three very light suits.
