You made a mistake or several mistakes. Let’s take ‘mistake’ to be subjective. If you are here, it probably means you have ‘forgiven’ yourself, given yourself leeway to learn from experience, and moved on to maturity.

Do you have the right to STOP your kids from making the same mistake or punish them if they do?

Or do you think they have the same right to make their own mistake and learn as you did and that your right stops at advice?

i think tht u have to teach the child whtz wrng and right and after they make the mistake than u should tell them tht its wrong. but if they kid did make the mistake give him or her the opportunity to learn frm it too
