It’s such big of a secret that even I don’t know the recipe

You know, during my wedding last summer, alot people were over from my hubby’s side and my mom cooked karhi, till this day they tell everyone how they have never had that delicious of karhi before. Infact my sis’s mil (also from my hubby’s side) says she attempts to make it every friday and sends it to my mil and other people, and they tell her, its STILL not like her mum’s.. haha. I think they expect me to make it when Im there but I tell them I don’t know her recipe! Even I don’t like anyone else’s cooked karhi, my mom’s is totally different.

We often send food to our neighbour across the street, who is a 85 year old granny and like a mother/grandma to us.. She's half Dutch and half Indonesian.. So she's fond of spicey food..:)

We also send food to my chachu who is married to a Dutchy.. So practically no desi khana over there.. Whenever my mom makes a dish which my chachoo likes a lot.. She never forgets to send him too..

And sometimes we also send food to other Pakistani family's we know..

It looks like your granny and chachu will definitely appreciate it.

We have a mosque to the right of our house.. and they got so much food yesterday because there's no one home to have leftovers. :(

We have 4 Pakistani families and they're all really nice.. and then 1 Syrian family, 1 Emirati widow..

The widow sends mounds (and I mean mounds) of Kabsa (chicken/meat and rice) and I feel horrible for passing it on because there's no one home and I dont have meat :(

Stop being vegetarian - convert to the meat eaters way! You should tell her u don't eat meat and no one else is there.

My mom used to cook very well. And now my 2 sisters are very expert in cooking. Their biryani is very famous in their mohallah! They call it "chokus biryani"!!!

I am cooking here and do give to my house mates! A week ago I cooked biryani for Irish boss!

Yes he liked it very much. No it was not too hot for him. I kept it at lower side. But he does not mind hot spicy!

We have just one Pakistani family across the street from us who are also great family friends. The uncle and aunty grew up in Malaysia so they are always cooking amazinggg Malay food which they send over.. even regular Pakistani food, and so does my mom everytime she cooks something special like Nihari or Haleen or her famous pakora karhi. Especially during Ramadan, almost everyday we send food and receive them, and when one of the parents are out of the state or country, both families take really good care of each other. We also have these Arab neighbors who are just as sweet and always send us Arabic food (which I don’t like AT ALL) but it’s so nice of them.

Whenever we have dawats, my mom makes sure to cook pakora karhi which EVERYONE loves, and she makes sure to cook ALOT because every aunty wants to take it back home. My mom’s really sweet in terms of sending food, she gives everyone to take back cartons (of those yogurts haha) filled with food so they don’t have to cook the next day.
My inlaws have all american neighbors and there’s one family next door who they are very good friends with, and those people just LOVE biryani and samosas.. so my mil makes sure to send it to them. In the beginning of every Ramadan, they send my mil a huge bag of those tiny plastics so she can send them samosas everyday.. lol.. they know it’s cooked every evening before iftar.
